도로횡단 표지판의 종류

Deer Xing: 산림지대나 자연공원에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 것으로 사슴이
도로로 뛰어들지 모르니 주위를 잘 살피면서 운전하라는
뜻. 미국이나 영국등지에선 공원이나 숲이 우거진 야외도로
를 달리는 운전자들이 자동차의 불빛을 보고 뛰어드는 사슴
을 피하려다가 교통사고를 일으키는 횟수가 빈번하다.

★ School Xing: 학교앞에 설치되어 있는 횡단보도. 어른과 아이가 손을
잡고 걸어가는 형태를 한 표지판.

갑자기 위험한 순간에 조심해는 Watch out이나 Look out을 쓰고,
조심해라는 Be careful이라고 말한다. 서점이 있다는 There's a
bookstore이지만, 찾고 있던 서점으로 제한이 될 때는 There's the bookstore
(that) we've been looking for이다. 길을 건너가자는 Let's
go across here나 Let's cross here라고 말하고, 횡단보도를 건너자는 Let's
cross at the crosswalk라고 말한다. 그 개가 차에 치였다는 The dog got hit by
the car, 치일 뻔했을 때는 The dog almost got hit by the car라고 말한다.
