~에 친화적이라고 할 때는 friendly를 씁니다.
그래서 환경친화적인 것은 environment-friendly
환경 보호 기업체를 environment-friendly business라고 하죠
때로는 eco-friendly라고도 합니다.
여기서 eco는 생태계인 ecosystem을 말하는 것입니다.
그 외 friendly와 함께 잘 쓰이는 표현을 살펴보면
userfriendly는 사용자에게 친화적인 것이므로
시스템이 사용하기 쉬운 것을 말합니다.
handicap-friendly는 장애인에게 친화적인 것이므로
'장애인 편의를 위해 만들어진'
Handicap friendly sidewalk has no curb.
장애인을 위해 만들어진 보도는 curb가 없다.
여기서 curb는 인도와 보도 사이의 턱을 말합니다.

On the surface, e-commerce appears to offer a big environmental bonus by eliminating hundreds of thousands of trips to the shopping mall.
A closer look, however, reveals that e-commerce may not be so friendly to the environment.
On-line book shopping, for example, may reduce energy use by less frequent visits to bookstores, but this actually creates more serious problems.
Every book ordered on the Web is heavily packaged and travels on a transportation network.
Instead of shipping, say, 10 copies of “Harry Potter” in one box to a bookstore, 10 boxes with one copy are shipped to e-commerce customers.
After all, this method requires more plastic bags which take a long time to decay.
겉보기에, 전자상거래는 수많은 사람들이 쇼핑몰에 다녀가는 것을 없앰으로써 환경적으로 커다란 이익을 주는 것처럼 보인다.
하지만, 좀 더 자세히 들여다보면 전자상거래가 그다지 환경친화적이 아님이 드러난다.
예를 들어, 온라인으로 책을 구을 불러일으킨다.
온라인으로 주문된 책마다 육중하게 포장되어 교통망을 통해 운반되는 것이다.
가령, 한 상자에 Harry Potter 10권을 담아 한 서점으로 운반하는 대신에, 책 한 권을 담은 상자 열 개가 전자상거래 고객들에게 배송된다.
결국, 이러한 방법은 부패하는데 오랜 시간이 걸리는 비닐봉투를 더 많이 필요로 하게 된다.
