Sit이 어디에 앉느냐에 따라서 다른 전치사를 취합니다.
sit on a chair
on 이란 전치사는 '...위에'를 뜻하지요. 우리가 의자에 앉는다고 말할 때는 대개
의자 위에 앉는다는 의미이지요. 그러니 일반적으로 의자에 앉는다는 의미일 때에는
sit on을 씁니다.
You can sit on your chair, if you want to.
앉고 싶으면 의자에 앉으세요.

'책상에 앉다 / 식탁에 앉다'라는 의미일 때는 전치사 at을 씁니다. at은 ...위도
아니고 ...안도 아닌 단지 어떤 협소한 장소를 막연히 의미하는 말입니다. 책상이나
식탁은 그 위에 앉거나 그 안에서 어떤 일을 하지는 않기 때문에 일반적으로 on이나
in을 쓰지 않습니다.
