Reporter : Would you tell me about your childhood including school life?
Carry : I enjoyed making people laugh as a child.
My teacher made a deal with me that if I was good and did my work in the class she would give me five minutes at the end to perform.
I would finish my work fast and spend the rest of the class preparing my act.
Reporter : How did you make your debut?
Carry : I went to a comedy club at the age of sixteen.
I prepared my routine, and practiced it over and over until I was sure I had it perfect.
I was not successful on my first stage, though.
The owner of the comedy club was backstage shouting things like “It's too boring.”
기자: 학창생활을 포함한 어린 시절에 대해 말씀해 주시겠습니까?
캐리:어릴 때 사람들을 웃기는 걸 좋아했어요.
선생님은 내가 착하게 공부를 하면 수업이 끝날 무렵 공연할 수 있도록 오 분을 주겠다고 저와 약속을 했어요.
저는 과제를 신속하게 끝내고 남는 수업시간은 연기를 준비하면서 보냈지요.
기자: 첫 무대 출연은 어떠하였습니까?
캐리: 16살 때 코미디 극단에 들어갔어요.
연기를 준비해서 완벽 하다는 확신이 들 때까지 반복해서 연습을 했어요.
하지만 첫 무대는 성공적이지 못했어요.
극단 주인이 무대 뒤에서 “너무 따분해"라는 등의 소리를 질렀어요.
이 사진을 보니 나의 학창시절이 생각난다.
