lecturing on the life and writing of Edgar Allan Poe. He noticed one
student with a blank stare and decided to try to catch him off guard.
"Mr. Thompson, since you seem uninterested in what I have to say, I can
only conclude that you already have a vast knowledge of Poe. Perhaps you
would care to give the other members of your class the benefit this wisdom
by describing the man in one word." Without a change of expression, the
student replied, "Dead."

Irish McCauley, at five-foot-two, was the smallest and most picked-on
boot in our platoon at Parris Island. The day he was caught with his hands
in the pockets of his fatigues, the drill instructor made him fill the
pockets with dirt so he'd be sure to keep his hands out. Next morning at
reveille when the platoon snapped to attention, the usually stern DI
suddenly doubled up with laughter. Glancing down the ranks, I saw McCauley
with daffodils protruding from every pocket. "They grew overnight, sir," he
solemnly assured the DI.

A ready smile always makes people like you. Happiness radiates happiness.
Although we all may feel gloomy at times, we don't like to be in the
presence of a sad face.
If people had a perpetually dark outlook on life, they would never be
very popular.
You can't be indifferent and disagreeable and expect the world to open
its arms to you.

thousand students. Few understood what he was saying but all were deeply
respectful.
Faulkner told one amusing story for 15 minutes, at the end of which time
the interpreter thought it wise to repeat the story in Japanese.
This he managed to accomplish in less than 20 words―yet the audience
burst into laughter.
"How could you tell my story in so few words?" asked Faulkner.
"I didn't tell it at all," admitted the interpreter.
"I simply said, `Mr. Faulkner has just told a very funny story.
Please kindly laugh.'"

According to psychologists, your physical appearance makes up 55% of a
first impression. The physical appearance includes facial expressions,
eye contact, and general appearance. The way you sound makes up 35% of
the first impression This includes how fast or slowly, loudly or softly
you speak, and your tone of voice. The actual words you use count for
only 10% . Therefore, it is safe to conclude that people form their first
impressions based mostly on how you look, then on how you speak
and least of all on what you say.

Eye In The Sky
Sung by The Alan Parsons Project
Don't think sorry's easily said
Don't try turning tables instead
You've taken lots of chances before
But I anin't gonna give any more.
Don't ask me
That's how it goes
'Cause part of me knows
What you're thinking
-
Don't say words you're gonna regret
Don't let the fire rush to your head
I've heard the accusation before
And I anin't gonna take any more
Believe me
The sun in your eyes
Made some of the lies worth believing
(to Chorus:)
-
**
I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I dont need to see any more
To know that I can read your mind
I can read your mind
-
Don't leave false illusions behind
Don't cry, I ain't changing my mind
So find another fool like before
'Cause I ain't gonna live anymore
Believing some of the lies
While all of the signs are deceiving
-

출근한 옆자리 미국인 동료가 Why the long face?
Why are you in a gloomy mood?
Why so blue?
Why the knitted brow?(찡그린 이마) 또는 Why in a funk?
또는 Why so depressed?

Margaret: IS HE ALL RIGHT?
Khaila : No.
I guess I just wanted him so bad that I wasn't thinking.
Maybe I was just hoping.
I wanted him to know who he was and where he came from.

Dexter: (린다의 손가락을 가리키며) Twenty-five cents. I gotcha.
Linda : Damn.
Dexter: WHENEVER I CATCH HER TWIRLING HER HAIR, she has to pay
me a quarter.
Linda : Twenty-five cents, yes.
Erik : (덱스터가 남긴 아이스크림을 보고) Are you going to finish that?
