BLACK JOURNALISM
- 언론이 어떤 개인이나 단체의 약점을 알아내고서, 이것을
세상에 공개하겠다 라고 하는 위협을 하는것 혹은 다른 이익을
노리고 이러한 약점을 보도하는 언론의 부정적인 활동을 의미
한다. 이와 비슷한 것으로
BLACKMAIL이란게 있는데 악랄한 세금이란 뜻이다.
여기서 black은 악의에 찬, 악랄한이란 뜻이고, mail은 우편물
이란 뜻도 있지만 지불, 세금(= tax, payment)란 뜻도 있다.
이말은 England와 Scotland의 경계에 사는 소농민들에게
신변보호를 구실로 삼아서 도둑떼들이 강제로 곡식과 재산을
포탈해가던 악습에서 비롯된 말이다.
그후 이말은 점차 확대되어 못된 관리, 비평가, 신문기자등이
취약점을 가진 사람들을 협박, 공갈해서 뜯어가는 돈을 의미하게
되었다.
blackmail이 동사로도 사용되어 다음과 같은 뜻을 갖는다.
The gangster blackmailed John.
그 깡패가 John을 협박했다.
Black Journalism이라고 하는 말은 언론 혹은 언론인들이 하는
blackmail이라고 이해하면 되겠다.

차명계좌를 활용하거나 이중장부를 작성해 조세를 포탈한 혐의가 있는 이들은 검찰에 고발할 계획이다.
Those suspected of using borrowed-name accounts or evading taxes by filling out double books plan to file a complaint with the prosecution.
법원이 이건희 삼성전자 회장의 차명계좌를 만들어 세금 포탈에 관여한 혐의로 재판에 넘겨진 전직 삼성 임원에게 집행유예를 선고했다.
The court sentenced a former Samsung executive to probation, who was put on trial for his involvement in tax evasion by creating a borrowed-name account of Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee.
이에 이 부사장은 "주식의 명의수탁자가 수증자에게 주식을 양도한 것처럼 계약서를 작성한 사실만 가지고는 사기나 부정한 행위로 조세를 포탈했다고 단정할 수 없다"며 부당무신고 가산세를 취소해달라는 등의 소송을 냈다.
In response, Vice President Lee filed a lawsuit to cancel the additional tax on unfair not reporting, saying, "It cannot be concluded that the trustee of the stock evaded the tax by fraud or misconduct just by writing the contract as if he had transferred the stock to the recipient."
그러면서도 "피고인이 범행을 인정하고, 잘못을 반성하는 점, 범행 이후 포탈한 조세 대부분을 납부한 점, 차명계좌로 인해 개인적 이득을 취한 것은 없는 점 등을 유리한 양형 사유로 반영했다"고 덧붙였다.
He added, "The defendant admitted to the crime, regretted his wrongdoing, paid most of the taxes he evaded after the crime and did not make any personal gains from borrowed-name accounts, which were all reflected in the reasons for advantageous assessment of the case."
Yahoo Inc., which in September launched Yahoo China -- a
Chinese-language site that serves as a jumping-off point to the Internet
-- saw the agreement as an ``an overwhelmingly positive development,''
said Heather Killen, Yahoo's senior vice president for international
business.
야후(Yahoo)의 히더 킬렌 국제영업담당 선임 부사장은 "야후는 지난 9월
중국어 인터넷 포탈사이트인 야후차이나(Yahoo China)를 개통했다"며 "협상
타결은 전적으로 바람직한 발전"이라며 환영했다.
