About a hundred year ago, the director of the United States Patent Bureau
resigned. He explained his decision by pointing out that few new inventions
were being made, because there was little left to invent.
In fact, he added, almost everything possible had already been invented,
and the patent office might as well close its doors.

발명할 여지가 없어서 더 이상 새로운 발명품이 없을 거라는 것이었다.
더구나 그는 거의 모든 것이 이미 발명되었기 때문에 특허청을 없애야
할거라는 말을 덧붙였다.
이날 출범식은 박원주 특허청장과 손병두 금융위원회 부위원장, 고준호 한국발명진흥회 상근부회장, 7개 은행 대표 및 신현준 한국신용정보원장 등 주요 관계자 60여명이 참석했다.
The launching ceremony was attended by some 60 key officials, including Park Won-joo, head of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, Sohn Byung-doo, vice chairman of the Financial Services Commission, Ko Joon-ho, full-time vice chairman of the Korea Invention Promotion Association, representatives of seven banks and Shin Hyun-joon, head of the Korea Credit Information Service.
