While highly prized for symbolizing good luck, the four-leaf clover is rarely
found in nature.

Red clover, the state flower of Vermont, was the leading leguminous hay crop
of the northeastern region of the United States until it was surpassed by
alfalfa.

They say it is lucky to find a four-leafed clover, but I rarely heard of
anybody finding one by actually looking for it.
Your chances of coming across one are slightly improved if you happen to
be an observant person, and you can become observant by training your
own faculties.
But however observant you may become, your hopes of finding a four-leafed
clover are still slim. It is an odd fact that many of the greatest
discoveries have been, in effect, stumbled upon―but usually by people
whose minds were in a condition to perceive them, who by training and
inclination were looking in the right direction.
However, the moment of revelation has seldom been coldly
calculated―in art, never.
네 잎 클로버를 찾으면 행운이 온다고 하는데 그것을 찾으려고 애쓰다가
발견했다는 사람의 이야기는 거의 듣지 못했다.
관찰력이 좋은 사람이라면 그것을 발견할 가능성이 약간 높을 것이고, 훈련을

그러나 아무리 관찰력이 좋아지더라도 네 잎 클로버를 발견할 가능성은 여전히
희박하다. 묘하게도 위대한 발견들은 사실상 우연히 이루어졌다. 그러나
그것을 발견한 사람들은 항상 마음의 준비가 되어 있었고 훈련과 취향을 통해
올바른 방향을 잡고 있었다.
그러나 발견의 순간이 냉정하게 계산된 경우는 드물며 예술의 경우는 전혀 없다.
Out in the backyard I am taking advantage of this beautiful morning.
And I think nowhere have I seen skies as blue as those of my village.
Looking upward, I can see skies splashed with cotton white clouds. The
sun brightens the eastern side of the trees and casts their shadows to
the west. A soft breeze gently rustles the tall clover blossom, not
disturbing the bees gathering nectar from them. A white butterfly
flutters across the yard. Everything seems to be in harmony with one
another.
밖 뒤뜰에서 아름다운 아침을 즐기고 있다. 그리고 우리 마을의 하늘만큼
푸른 하늘은 어디서도 본 적이 없다고 생각한다. 위를 보면, 솜처럼 하얀
구름으로 얼룩진 하늘을 볼 수 있다. 태양이 나무들의 동쪽을 비추고 나무의
그림자를 서쪽으로 드리운다. 부드러운 미풍은 그것들로부터 꿀을 모으고 있는
벌을 방해하지 않고 잔잔히 키 큰 클로버 꽃송이를 흔들어 댄다. 하얀 나비
한 마리가 날개를 퍼덕거리면 마당을 가로질러 가고 있다. 모든 것이 서로
조화를 이루고 있는 것 같다.
