sensible은 「(사람이나 행동이) 분별력 내지 지각이 있는」이란 뜻이고 sensitive는 「감수성 내지 감각이 예민한」이란 뜻이다. sensual은 「관능적인, 관능적인 쾌락에 민감한(interested in, related to, giving pleasure to one's own body as by sex, food and drink)」이란 뜻이고, sensuous는 「감각적인, 감각에 호소하는, 감각이 예민한(interested in feelings of pleasure by the senses)」이란 뜻이다. 또한 sensuous는 「관능적」이란 뜻도 흔히 함축하는데, sensual이 「음탕한」이란 나쁜 뜻으로 쓰이는 데 반해서 sensuous에는 이와 같은 나쁜 뜻은 없다.

마지막으로 무엇보다 가장 중요한 것은, 성공으로 버릇이 나빠지지 않고, 자신의 진정한 자아를 저버리지 않고, 오만하게 되기보다는 자신의 바탕을 지인(知人)으로서 꾸준히 지키며, 요행으로 자기에게 온 좋은 일에 기뻐하기보다는 태어날 때부터 자기 것인 자신의 성품과 지성을 통하여 자기에게 온 것에 희열을 느끼는 사람.
