Kenya 〔ｋ´ｅｎｊ∂〕 케냐(아프리카 동부의 공화국)
mau mau 〔ｍ´ａｕ ｍ｀ａｕ〕 마우마우, 케냐지방에서 유럽인 축출을 목적으로 하는
홍차는 red tea라 하지않고 black tea, Ceylon tea라 한다.
______ 우리가 마시는 홍차는 인스턴트 홍차로 물에 넣으면 붉은
색의 차가 된다. 하지만 영국에서는 찻잎을 우려내서 마시
기 때문에 우러나온 차의 색이 연한 검은색인데서 기인해
black tea라고 부른다.
그리고 영국은 식민지였던 실론, 인도, 아프리카의 케냐에
서 홍차를 들여왔었는데, 스리랑카가 차의 주산지라는데서
홍차를 Ceylon tea라고도 부른다.(註: 실론은 스리랑카의
옛 지명임.)
근데 실제 영국인들은 홍차를 녹차(green tea)나 다른 차
종류와 구분할 때가 아닌 경우에는 그냥 tea라고 부르며
이건 미국에서도 마찬가지이다.
