영국의 한 서적 판매회사가 유통업무의 전산화를 위해 고안
한 것,모두 10개의 단위로 된 숫자가 적혀져 있는데 각각은
나라,출판자 기호,도서명,대조 기호 등등의 의미를 갖는다고
합니다. 우리나라는 90년 8월 24일 독일 베를린에 있는 국제
ISBN 위원회로부터 국별번호 89번을 지정받아 국내실무작업
추진중이라고 합니다.앞으로 실행이 되면 국내의 모든 책에
이런 표시가 들어가겠죠. 분류의 편리를 위한 장치라고 해야
겠죠.
