Ancient Palaces Open to Public During Chusok
고궁, 추석연휴중 개방
Koreans will soon celebrate Chusok, the biggest holiday for
ancestral worship and family reunions. This year, the Chusok
holidays fall Sept. 26-29.
조상을 모시고 친척들이 다시 모이는 최대의 명절, 추석이 얼마남지
않았다. 추석연휴 기간은 오는 26-29일까지.
The Cultural Property Preservation Bureau of the Ministry of
Culture and Sports announced that it will keep the five ancient
palaces in Seoul open to the public during the holidays.
문화체육부 산하 문화재관리국은 추석연휴 기간중 서울시내 5개 고궁
을 개방한다고 밝혔다.
According to the Ministry of Construction and Transportation,
about 28 million people visited and returned from their hometowns
or resort areas. An estimated 700,000 vehicles left Seoul and its
satellite cities during the four-day Chusok holiday, the ministry
said.
건설교통부에 따르면 고향이나 휴양지를 찾고 돌아온 인구는 약 2천8
백만명이며 추석연휴기간중 서울 및 수도권 지역을 떠난 차량 대수는
70만대에 이른 것으로 추산했다.
인천공항공사는 17일 구본환 인천국제공항공사 사장이 추석연휴가 끝난 지난 16일 인천공항 주요 시설물에 대한 시설점검과 안전점검을 진행했다고 밝혔다.

충남 천안시는 추석연휴기간인 12일부터 15일까지 응급환자 발생에 대비해 병·의원 비상진료와 비상근무체계를 가동한다고 4일 밝혔다.

김진욱 대응예방과장은 "올해 추석연휴에는 공장화재 등으로 인명피해가 발생했지만 다행히 큰 인명피해는 없었다"고 밝혔다.
Kim Jin-wook, chief of the response and prevention section, said, "In this year's Chuseok holiday, there was damage to people due to factory fires, but fortunately, there was no serious damage of human life."
