One month has passed since Hanchongnyon, the coalition of
university student councils nationwide, held a grand unification
festival which turned into a nine-day violent rally that ended
with the arrest of 465 students.
지난달 전국 대학 총학생회 연합체인 한총련이 개최한 '통일 축천'
행사는 9일동안 계속 이어진 최악의 폭력 집회로 변질되었고, 마침내
465명의 시위학생들이 대량구속되는 결과를 가져왔다.
The measures include a step banning student councils from
raising funds by running campus cafeterias and installing vending
machines. Dissident student groups which has sympathized with
North Korean ideology are not allowed to use classrooms at school
buildings.
대학측은 식당 운영 및 자판기 설치등의 수익 사업에 총학생회가 개
입하는 것을 금하는 한편으로, 친북성향의 대학 동아리들에 대해서는
동아리방을 제공하지 않는 등 강경 조처를 취하고 나섰다.
Student councils of Yonsei, Kyunghee and Dongguk universities
recently formed ad hoc committees in charge of organizing campus
demonstrations to demand for an immediate release of the arrested
student council leaders.
연대 경희대 동국대 총학생회는 최근, 학내 시위 전담 임시기구를 결
성, 이번 사태로 구속된 총학 지도부의 즉각 석방을 촉구하고 나섰다.
Campus disorder has also developed at Seoul National University
and Hanyang University as their student councils have vowed to
back Hanchongnyon colleagues from other schools by staging campus
rallies.
서울대와 한양대 총학생회도 지속적으로 한총련 지원 집회를 벌여나
갈 것을 결의했다.
