On Thursday, Nov. 20, I was traveling east on Route 116 when a deer jumped out of the forest and hit my car.
The car behind me stopped right away.
A very nice, young couple came up to see if I was OK.
Then, they called the police for me and had me call my daughter on their cell phone.
I thanked the young couple who didn't even know me and stopped to help.

After dinner at a downtown hotel, my aunt and her friends, all retired, phoned for a cab.
A car pulled up to the front entrance where they waited, and they got in,
asked to be taken to the concert hall and chatted together until they arrived.
When asked the fare, the driver laughed.
“I was on my way to meet someone at the hotel when you all happily climbed into my car.
This isn't a taxi. Enjoy the symphony, ladies.”
And with a wave of his hand he drove off.

Just that morning when she woke up in her own bed she thought, “Another hot, humid, dull day, just like every other day this summer.”
But then she remembered! Today was different.
Her favorite aunt and uncle, Melissa and Sean, had invited her to join them on a backpacking trip.
They picked her up at 8:00 A.M. and drove most of the day to get to the national park.
They just had time to pitch their tents, build the fire, and cook dinner before it got dark.
Emily went into the forest to gather firewood.
Then she helped Melissa make hamburger patties.
She didn't realize how hungry she was until she smelled them cooking.
Everything tasted better.
Emily

Yet thanks to my wife, I began to calm myself down.
I tried to relax in the car.
I allowed myself more travel time and tried not to let the traffic and the slow movement annoy me.
While I couldn't change the traffic flow, I could change my attitude toward it.

Pen designers must be aware of hundreds of requirements.
Make the pen too thin, and it will not be strong enough to stand up to the hard use of schoolchildren.
Make the middle section too thick, and it can neither be grasped properly by the fingers nor controlled with enough precision.
However, people with arthritic hands may need a thick body because they can't close their fingers entirely.
And what of those who use the pen as a measuring device or as a mechanical instrument to poke, stab, and twist?
For example, the instructions for the clock in my automobile say to set it by pressing the recessed button with the tip of a ball-point pen.

Signs of globalization are everywhere.
From the foreign cars we drive to the foreign food we eat.
Today, the products we buy come from all over the world.
The capital investment that creates these products flows from one country to another with such ease as has never before been seen.
And with these products, came new cultural ideas.
Baseball, Americans' favorite sport, was being challenged by a global import, football, what Americans call soccer.
On the other hand, America influences other countries as well.

I enjoy my job very much.
I meet all kinds of people and talk to everyone.
Many people ask me questions, and I give them the necessary information.
I try to be very helpful.
I never stay in one place long.
On the contrary, I am constantly on the move.
Most men take off their hats in my car.
Sometimes I tell passengers to put out their cigarettes.
Some people smile at me and others ignore me.
My life is a series of "ups" and "downs."

Servants may leave so that we have to wash up after our meals, but we may still, when the work is done, be able to put our feet up for a few minutes.
We may, when we go out in the car, find the roads up, or so bad that our tires go flat and have to be pumped up.
Yet, when we get home, we may perhaps enjoy, if we sit up late, a wonderful broadcast of opera from Milan or Rome.
Things do look up sometimes.

As the railroad conductor entered our car, my friend discovered he had left his ticket at home.
Trying to joke his way out of the awkward situation, my friend told the conductor, "I'm not a dishonest guy. Look, my face is my ticket."
The conductor didn't miss a beat.
"And my duty," he said, "is to punch every ticket."

A motor-vehicle survey has revealed that, in 1940, each car on the road contained
an average of 3.2 persons. In 1950, the occupancy had declined to 2.1 persons per car.
By 1960, the average was down to 1.4 persons. If we project the statistics to 1980,
every third car going by will have nobody in it.

After parking our car at my daughter's apartment late Saturday night,
I noticed the one next to it had its lights on. I left a note on the
windshield with the telephone number, saying I'd come down and give
the battery a boost if needed.
About 3 a.m. the phone rang and a man said, "I'm sorry to bother you,
but I read your note and sure would appreciate a boost."
I turned on my car lights to see what we were doing, and after I got
him started, he offered to pay me. "No thanks," I replied. "Just
help some other motorist sometime."
When I went to my car on Sunday morning, I discovered I had left
my lights on, and the battery was dead.

When my children and I had finished unpacking in our new home, we noticed
our poodle was missing. Concerned that she couldn't find her way back in
the unfamiliar surroundings, I loaded the kids into the car and went to
look for her. We drove up and down the neighborhood without any luck.
Not far from our house I noticed a man sitting on his front porch.
I asked him if he'd seen our dog.
"Yes," he replied. "She's been following your car for the past ten minutes."

When I learned how to drive, my father took me around our neighborhood to
let me get a feel for the huge car we owned. The quiet, narrow streets of
the neighborhood witnessed the blunders of yet another new driver :
too-wide ( or too-narrow ) turns, sudden stops, damage to the low-hanging
trees by the radio antenna, and driving on the wrong side of the street
to avoid the parked cars on the right side. Through it all, my father
gave words of advice and support with patience.

Did they catch the suspect?
Call the police!
I want to report an accident.
This is an emergency!
She wasn't involved, was she?
No, she just saw it. But it really upset her.
There was a car accident on Highway 40 last night.
The radio said there was a head-on collision on Highway 40 yesterday.
I ran into her by accident at a department store last week.
The little boy was playing with the gun and fired it into the wall by accident.
His parents are stupid for leaving a gun where he could get it.
I accidentally put sugar on my friend chicken instead of salt.
She'll be late. She had a slight mishap: She spilled coffee on her dress.
Jane inadvertently knocked over the lamp when she hung up her coat.
Did it break?
I raised my hand to hail a taxi and unintedtionally hit a man in the face.
Jack unwittingly killed his goldfish by overfeeding it.
Bad news, I had a fender bender on the way home.

You had better be alert from the moment you arrive at the airport.
When you get to your destination, use official transport.
Always go to bus stops and taxi stands;
don't accept rides from strangers who offer you a lift.

I mean, we're in the car, we're fighting traffic...
basically just trying to stay awake.

So they pull me from the car, both legs broken, fractured skull,
punctured lung.
My heart stops.
Two full minutes.
They're pumping my chest. Nothing.
They grab the defibrillators.
Nothing.
무반응
Third time, the pistons start firin'.
Doctors tell me it's a miracle I'm alive.
But seriously, you talk about a wake-up call from God.
You don't get to come back from the dead twice.

You know, Francis did a big bus tour in 1998,
and the bus lost its brakes going down a hill
and we landed in a tobacco field.
He gets out of the car, knocks on the farmer's door,
writes a check for all the damaged crops,
and then borrows his pickup so he doesn't miss the next event.
And it was actually fun.
He was driving. I was shotgun, and they had the whole staff in the flatbed.

She'll deny everything,
like she did last night.
She can't deny getting into Stamper's car. You saw her.
Maybe you send a version of the story about her dad.
No one would print it.
Rachel doesn't know that.
She said, "Go to town, bitch."
It won't work. I have to get in her face.

Listen, we're OK and I'm really sorry I did this. I mean it.
I'll be home as soon as I can get a ride.
You're not waiting for a ride. We'll come pick you up. Where are you?
- I don't even know how we got here.
Kim, honey, this is not the night you wanna shine me on, I promise you.
- I gotta go.
Mom, I love you.
''I love you.''
Nice touch. ln the van.
- What happened? - I can't believe it.
She's at this party, she said she was sorry and she'd be back.
- What about Janet? - She's fine.
What's wrong?
She said ''I love you''.

- Where's Jack?
- I don't know.
Station two, coming your way.
Lockdown. Nobody leaves.
- Lockdown? Are you serious?
- No, I'm kidding.
- I gotta get some work from the car.
- You know the drill.
Fine. You take the keys.
All right. I assume you're all familiar with lockdown procedures.
You remain in the building. All communications will be monitored.
Any incoming calls without secure access codes will be blocked.
In the meantime, continue to work on the systems available until notified otherwise.

I think it might be up here, somewhere to the right.
Yeah, maybe.
There's someone up ahead. Maybe they saw something. Roll down your window.
Excuse me. Could you tell me what happened here, please?
- It might involve our children.
- You shouldn't let your children come here.
Yeah, I know. But could you just please tell me what happened?
Girl was hit by a car.
Do you know where they took her?
St Mark's is closest.
Was she alive?
- She didn't look good.
- Go, go, go, go.

Kneel up against that wall and interlock your fingers behind your head. Now.
Don't move.
Oh, my God.
- Hey, we had a deal.
Shut up.
- Put him in the car.

Nina! I need a favour.
They're starting to add up, Jack.
Don't tell anyone I requisitioned this for personal use.
Personal use?
Yes. Could you please patch me through to hospital security?
Thank you. You know Kim's friend, the girl she went out with tonight?
She turned up at St Mark's ER. She got hit by a car.

Let's hurry this up. We're way behind.
Put her in the car.

What are you gonna do? What are you gonna do? Ow! You're gonna kill me right here?
I have no choice. They have Kim and Teri.
How do you know they won't kill them even if you do this?
- I can't take that chance.
- What about me?
Enough chitchat. Just do it. Kimberly's dead if you don't do it!
- Forgive me. - You think I'm messing with you?
- Turn around. Turn around!
- If you do it, do it to my face.
- Shoot her!
- I won't make this easy for...
Get back in the car, Jack.

- I'm sorry. I'm sorry. (sobs) - Oh, no, no, no, no, no, it's not your fault.
It's not your fault, honey.
Why don't you tell me about these boys?
I met them through Janet, and...
she started dating this guy, Dan, and his friend Rick came into town,
and we just hang out, and... oh, God.
- Have they kept you here the whole time? - Yes.
Janet was hit by a car.
- I know. - You do?
We are gonna get through this, I promise you.

Coroner just called. They're waiting for us.
Okay.
Brass, you coming?
I've still got half a burger. Besides, I prefer live bodies.
Hey, Grissom. You got a second?
I'm in purgatory. I need some guidance.
- Meet you at the car.

The chemical compositions break down exactly the same.
Yeah, but that doesn't necessarily prove that the seeds from the dead kid's gut
came from the same place as the seeds from the dealer's car.
We'd need the pods to do a DNA match. And we don't have them.
The truth is, it wouldn't matter. I ran the seeds Eric ingested.
Toxic levels are low. Too low to have killed him.
Square one.

And then he turned his weapon on himself. One shot.
Right through the forehead.
Where's his gun?
I left it in the Jeep.
I'm gonna bag it.
Officer, we're gonna need your weapon as well.
But I never fired.
Drawn but not fired.
It's just standard procedure.

Where's the driver? He get thrown?
Didn't find anybody.
- I'm thinking DUI. - You calling it?
I'm calling that beer bottle.
How do you know it's from the car?
Still cold. Foam in the bottle.

Who?
The phantom driver.
- Hey, hand me another beer. - No, you've had enough.
Where you going? Hey!
So your drunk driver just got out and ran away?
Where to?
I don't know yet. That's why we're out here.
But I do know he left his buddy hung out to dry. I can tell you that.

Las Vegas Police.
Your husband reported you missing.
Could she put that gun away?
You, uh, you haven't been abducted, have you, Mrs. Applegate?
Not really.
We found evidence of blood in your car.
I saw an injured dog last week, and drove it to the vet.

Did you file a police report?
No, but you can check with my insurance company.
I already checked with my lab.
They do this test.
And guess what? The glass... it "floated."
You know what that means?
No...
아니요
It means the glass from your pants and
the glass from your living room window
have equal densities.
Sorry, I was never very good at science.
The glass didn't come from any car window.
That's science.

You can keep the pen as a souviner.
I'll be right back.
Hey come on, you're making me late.
Hey, hey hey,
two cheeks on the car. There you go.
Okay, thanks.

Please help me.
You gotta help me! I locked my baby in the car!
Right. Did you call the manager?
It's so hot. She's gonna die! Please help me.
Oh! Alright.
Where's your car?
This way.

Yes?
I'm Detective Jim Brass. Las Vegas police department.
Are you Mrs. Bennett?
Oh yes, is this about my car plates?
I have them, I just haven't had time to put them on my car.
Actually, Mrs.Bennett,
we were here about your husband, Mel.
Oh well, Mel isn't here right now.

Look, we can run the clock exam on each of you.
And the clock is gonna tell us what happened.
So, who wants to go first?
I had sex with Darren.
And it wasn't rape.
Darren had been flirting with me all night.
When it was time to leave, I told the other girls to wait in the car.
I know it's crazy but I thought,
"I'm in Vegas, it doesn't really count."
Then, then I don't know what happened.

Give me your keys. Get in the car.

Warrick, throw cones down on everything you bag!
We gotta get these bodies into the van.
Let's go guys.
Keep the jacket up.
Bring me a body bag, I wanna cover this wallet.

Taillight?
Yeah.

You been drinking Warrick?
Nah, I'm having a block party.
I marked it where I found it over on the sidewalk over there.
Two distinct tire treads.
One wide,....
one narrow.
Given the extensive bruising from the wide tread mark,
victim was killed by a larger vehicle.
Not that compact.

Does your head itch?
Do I have to answer that?
I'm gonna just re-arrange your part a little.
According to Adam Walkey,
you were with him in his SUV the other night.
And your head lice
confirms his statement,
they also tell me that you were driving.
Yeah. Yeah, I was with him.

We got out of the car.
We-We gotta call the paramedics.
We tell anybody, we're in trouble.
We could go to jail
But I didn't want to leave him like that.
Adam talked me into it.
He's got a scholarship to Duke next year
You know he couldn't risk it.

Then you got out of the car.
Hey, moron, we just want you to buy us some beer.
- How about we just grab yours, huh - What do you want? What do you want?
What do you say? You gonna give it up?
You started taunting him.
And then everything escalated.

- Get in the car. - She's got cookies.
Well, bring them. We're leaving.
- Oh, no, no. Stay put. - I don't think so. Aah!
- Listen, lady, you and I are going to have a little talk. - Leave my mommy alone!
Let go of me!
What's the matter with you?
Run, boys, run!
Oh, crap
You get back here!
Boys, you're going to need to put on your --
Get back or I'm going to call social services!

Mrs. Mayer?
Brandi.
Brandi, get in the car.
Mrs. Mayer.
Please, call me Susan.
I just wanted you to know
what happened between me and Karl, things got out of hand
because I thought your marriage was over.
Anyway, I just wanted you to know I'm sorry. I really am.
Thank you.
고마워

Would you do something with this? It looks like roadkill.
Okay, lady, that's it.
I beg your pardon?
Maisy, we have kids the same age,
which means there are years ahead of us having to deal with each other,
so instead of playing all these petty games, why don't we put an end to this right now?

She had this thing for red when we met.
Red car, red dresses, red hats.
Personally, I hated the color.
Too obvious, you know?
But a couple years ago,
I took her up to the mountains.
She was in a red dress,
and there was this field of red...
poppies, I think.
And she jumped out of the car and ran into them
and started laughing --
laughing at all the red.

God!
I'm not riding in the same car with him.
Unless you're going like that, you're not riding with me.
Where are the tampons?
He didn't buy them.
You didn't buy them?
Men don't buy tampons.
You are gonna have to get over the man thing, George.
