Military authorities said yesterday it was still unknown what
the motivations of those North Koreans were. They said, however,
that they are convinced the submarine was on a mission to drop
off the infiltrators in South Korean waters. ``Lee said he
belonged to the intelligence bureau of the Ministry of People's
Armed Forces, which is in charge of dispatching spies and armed
infiltrators to the South,'' a military official pointed out.
19일 군관계자에 따르면 "이들의 침투 목적은 아직 정확히 밝혀지지
않고 있으나 잠수함의 임무가 남파 간첩을 해안에 상륙시켜주는 것이
었다는 점에서만은 확신을 가지고 있다"고 말했다. 군관계자는 "이광
수는 자신이 대남공작 전문요원 양성기관인 인민무력부 산하 정찰대
소속이라고 밝혔다"고 전했다.
