De Beers bidder's statement will be sent to Ashton shareholders
by August 28, and Ashton's target statement has to be published
within the next two weeks.

The Malaysian Mining Company, which owned half of Ashton's equity,
has already sold De Beers 19.9 per cent of Ashton's equity,
and has said it will sell it the rest unless a higher bid emerges.

19.9%의 지분을 팔았고 좀 더 높은 입찰가가 없는 한 그 나머지도
드비어에게 매각할 거라고 말했다.
Rio Tinto, which owns the other 60 per cent of Argyle, is seen
as the most natural counterbidder. Mr Bailey said he hoped
any counterbid emerged before Ashton published its target statement.
