Bosses in American companies are spending twice as much time settling
employee dispute as they did a decade ago, reports Accountemps, a
temporary staffing service.

A 1988 survey showed executives spent 9% of their management time on
resolving interpersonal conflicts; the figure rose to 13% in 1993 and
to 18% in 1998.
1988년도 조사에 따르면 경영진들은 경영 시간의 9%를 사원들 간의 분쟁을
해결하는 데 썼다고 한다. 그 수치는 1993년에는 13%, 1998년에는 18%로
상승했다.
The explanation? Recent downsizings and restructurings have made workers
feel less secure and more competitive, says Max Messmer, chairman of
Accountemps.
