hit는 「단번」의 타격을 뜻하나, beat는 계속(연속)적인 타격을 암시하는 이외에도 「타격을 가하다; 타격을 가해서 상처를 입히다」는 뜻으로 쓰이는 경우, hit와 달리 human noun이 주어, 목적어가 된다.

CROPPER는 원래 말에서 떨어지는 것을 말합니다. COME A CROPPER라고 하면 "말에서 떨어지다"라는 기본 뜻 이외에도 비유적으로 "실패하다, 낭패를 보다"라는 뜻이 파생됩니다.

* 일반적으로 우리는 make up이라 하면 '화장을 하다'란 말로

administrative record for a scope proceeding must include:
1. The petition
2. The ITC report
3. Any documents from the investigation that were submitted by a party or that
were reviewed and relied on by the DOC in its scope determination.

nocturne : 낭만파시대에 주로 피아노를 위하여 작곡된 소곡. 야상곡이라고도 한다. 이탈리아어의 노투르노(notturno)와 같은 뜻이기도 하나, 노투르노는 18세기의 세레나데(serenade)와 같은 뜻으로도 쓰인다. 녹턴을 맨 먼저 작곡한 사람은 아일랜드의 피아니스트이며 작곡가인 J.필드로 알려져 있다. 그의 20곡에 가까운 녹턴은 쇼팽에게 많은 영향을 주었으며, 또 쇼팽에 의해서 정교하고 세련된 피아노소품으로 완성되었다. 분산화음(分散和音)의 반주를 타고 느린 속도로 꿈을 꾸는 듯한 오른손의 선율이 흐른다. 녹턴에는 피아노독주곡 이외에도 A.보로딘의 《제2현악 4중주곡》(제3악장), F.멘델스존의 《한여름 밤의 꿈》 중의 관현악곡 등이 있다. 또 C.A.드뷔시는 여성의 합창을 곁들인 관현악을 위한 3악장으로 이루어진 인상파적 작풍의 《녹튀른》을 작곡하여 녹턴이란 이름에 새로운 뜻을 부여하였다.
