[比較] after, behind
「뒤에」를 의미하는 전치사·형용사·부사로서 동의어를 이루지만 서로 바꿔 쓰일 수는 없다. 장소·위치에 관해서 말할 때 after는 움직이는 것의 전후·순서를 나타내는 데에 운동을 표시하는 동사·명사와 함께 쓰인다.
The faculty marched in pairs, one after another.
이렇게 쓰이는 경우 어느 것이 앞서고 뒤서는지를 전혀 나타내지 않는다. run after a person은 그 사람 앞에 서려는 노력을 나타낼 뿐이다. 정지 상태의 동사와 함께 쓰이는 경우에도 운동의 전후·순서가 문맥에 의해 나타날 뿐이다. One stays after the others는 after the others who have left를, One calls after a person은 after a person who is walking ahead를, One looks after the children of a friend는 after the children of a friend who is away, ill, or engaged(집을 비웠거나 병을 앓는, 혹은 볼일이 있는 친구의 아이들의 뒤를)를 암시한다.
behind는 젧거나, 남이 떠나간 후에 남아 있는 것을 가리킨다. 시간에 관해서 말할 때, after는 behind보다 훨씬 많이 쓰이는 말로 순서의 전후를 가리키는 데에 반드시 요구되는 말이다.

주로 비유적으로 쓰여 중요성 또는 영향력이 큰 것을 암시하고, 신중한 고려나 판단이 요구되는 공공 문제에 관한 일에 흔히 쓰인다.

heavy는 일상어이며 그 종류의 평균 밀도나 농도보다 높다든가, 부피 또는 양이 커서 상대적으로 무거운 것을 가리킨다.

또한 흔히 슬픔·근심·피로 따위가 몸과 마음을 무겁게 누르는 것을 암시하며, ‘슬픈’(sorrowful)의 뜻으로도 자주 쓰인다.

11.3 귀하는, Abc가 그 이용자에게 ‘서비스’를 제공하기 위하여 요구되는 기술적 조치를 취하는데 있어서 (a) 귀하의 ‘콘텐츠’를 다양한 공공(public) 네트워크 및 다양한 미디어 상에 전송 또는 배포할 수 있고, (b) 네트워크 연결, 기기, 서비스 또는 미디어의 기술적 요구 조건에 그 ‘콘텐츠’를 일치시키고 적합하게 하기 위하여 필요한 바에 따라 귀하의 ‘콘텐츠’에 그러한 수정을 가할 수 있음을 이해합니다.
(B) Abc is required to do so by law (for example, where the provision of the Services to you is, or becomes, unlawful); or
(B) Abc가 법률에 의하여 해지하도록 요구되는 경우(예를 들면, 귀하에 대한 ‘서비스’ 제공이 불법이거나 불법으로 되는 경우); 또는
붐 오퍼레이터(Boom Operator)
장면을 연기하는 배우의 음성을 정확히 담기 위해 마이크로폰을 조작하는 사람.

이외에도 조명이 내리 비추는 위치를 파악, 마이크의 그림자가 세트장에서 눈에 띄는 것을
미연에 방지해야 하는 등 세심한 요령이 요구되고 있다.
