여행자 수표(traveler's check) : 주로 해외여행자의 여비 휴대의 편의를
도모하고, 현금을 지참함으로써 생기는 위험을 방지하기 위하여 사용하는
수표이다. 보통 은행이 발행하는 자행급(自行給)의 수표 형식을 취하며
현금과 똑같이 취급되지만, 본인 이외에는 사용하지 못한다.
수표면의 정해진 난(欄)에 미리 사인을 해 두고, 사용할 상대 앞에서
다시 사인(카운터 사인)을 하여 정당한 소지인이라는 것을 증명하면
효력이 발생한다. 발행은행에 따라서는 여행자신용장과 비슷한 성질을 갖는다.
