근년에 열차객실이나 엘리베이터 내의 제한된 공간에서의 혼잡도를 정확하게 측정할 수 있는 장비에 대한 요구도 또한 강하게 제기되어 왔다.
Traditionally, the degree of crowdedness of a public transport vehicle such as a commuter train has been judged by the train conductor who visually checks how crowded the train is, in terms of a percentage, such as 0 to 200%, against the capacity of the train.
전통적으로 통근열차와 같은 대중교통차량의 혼잡도는 열차승무원이 눈으로 보고 확인하여 열차가 얼마나 혼잡한 지를 열차정원에 비하여 0에서 200%와 같이 퍼센티지로 판단해 왔다.
