→ 「쑥스러움」은 번역하기에 상당한 연구가 필요한 표현이다. 보통 「쑥스러움」이라고 하면 「너무 드러나서, 부끄럽다, 어색하다」라는 의미인데 이 문제문에서는 「~에 자신이 생기다」로 표현하는 쪽이 좋다.
- 그녀는 선생에게 조금만 칭찬을 들으면 금방 수줍어한다.
She is delight and proud whenever her teacher praises her.
- 별것 아닌 일에 톰은 금방 자신만만해 진다. Tom gets elated over trifling matters.
- 그때가 그의 가장 화려한 시대였다. Those were the days when he felt extremely proud of himself.
ANS 1) I was delighted and proud that I had chosen a book all by myself for the first time, and I felt as if all the people in the bookstore were looking at me.
ANS 2) I got elated because I had for the first time chosen a book for myself, which made me feel as if everybody in the bookstore were gazing at me.
