동종요법 치료제 '콜드-에즈(Cold-Eeze)'에 대한 과대광고 시정조치를
내렸다.

나. 다량의 병원체에 의해 발병한 증상에 동일(유사)한 병원체를 극미량 가할

일반적으로 이러한 동종요법의 치료제는 동물성, 식물성 또는 광물성의

대체의료의 하나인 동종(同種)요법이 실제 건강에 도움을 줄 수 있다는
내용의 연구결과를 의학전문지 랜시트에 발표했다.
동종요법이란 건강한 사람에게 특정증상을 일으키는 물질을 농도를 낮춰 같은
증상을 앓는 환자에게 투여하면 치료된다는 원리를 지닌 서양특유의
대체의료를 말한다. 가령 겨자가스는 피부에 붉은 발진을 유발하는 유독
물질이지만 이미 발진증상을 앓고 있는 피부병 환자에게 농도를 묽게해
투여하면 오히려 피부병이 치료된다는 논리다.
``These settlements will ensure that consumers are no longer being
misled by unsubstantiated claims about these products,'' said Jodie
Bernstein, director of the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection. ``And
they will also help remind marketers of their responsibility to back up
