I recently learned from Myung-hoon Kim, my good friend and long-time
business associate, that you are interested in importing from Korea a
broad of sundries for your retail outlets.
We fully understand and can sympathize with the need to raise prices
at times to insure profits. However, you are strongly encouraged to
recall that this time a great deal of money was spent on promotion and
promotional materials to see that these products got off to a good
start. These costs have yet to be recovered. There is also the problem
of our retailers, who will be very unreceptive to a price increase so
soon after introduction.

대해 사용하면 감정적인 느낌이 되므로 사용하지 않는다.
Store owners across the country predict that shoppers will spend a
lot of money this Christmas. The average sales increase may be as high as
12 to 15 percent. Gears Company reported a 31.5 % rise in sales in
November. S-Mart reported a 10.5% increase. Gears is the largest retailer
in the country. S-Mart is second. According to one expert, there is
more spending because of the low inflation rate and more employment.
People have more money to spend. The chairman of Gears said, "The
excellent Christmas season we've anticipated has begun. We are selling
more home fashions, electronics and major appliances."

배달되는 신문 에 끼워져 각 가정에 배포되는 광고. 신문 도매점이
취급하지만, 국지적인 매체로서 이용도는 높다. 소매점, 슈퍼는 물론
메이커가 판매점 원조 광고에 이용한다든지 백화점 주변뿐만이 아니라 자기
가게로부터 교통이 가까 운 곳까지 이용 하는 것도 있다. 일본에서는 신문
판매점이 직접 취급하지만 미국에서는 신문사가 직접 취급한다.
package
포장. commercial package와 industrial package는 상품을 보호하는 동시에
디자인적 표현에 의해 점두 효과를 높이고, 구매에 자극을 주는 package.
industrial package는 소위 packing 으로, 생산자에서 소매점까지 수송에
적합한 포장을 말한다.
POP광고
point of purchase ad. 구매 시점 광고. 구매 시점, 즉 소매점의 안팎에서
하는 광고, display 류의 총칭. 매스컴 매체에서 하는 광고가 넓게
일반에게 주지되어 욕망을 환기시키는 광고라고 하면, 이것은 직접 구매에
결부된 광고로서 상승적 효과가 기대된다.
sales promotion ad
판매촉진을 위한 광고. 신문 잡지 광고나 TV, 라디오의 경우처럼 매스컴
매체에 하는 광고가 아니라 판매에 직결한 광고의 총칭. DM 이나 접지
광고, 지역이 한정된 옥외 광고, 영화 광고, 소매점의 점두에서 하는 POP
광고 등을 말한다. SP 광고라고도 줄여서 말한다.
지역 광고
local ad. 어떤 소매점 판매 지역, 또는 어떤 업종의 일정한 지역
내에서만 하는 광고의 총칭. 소매 광고, 영화관의 광고, 가스 전력 회사의
광고 등. 지방 광고, 지원 광고라고도 한 다.
이 연구원은 "미국도 소매점포의 폐점으로 전방산업이 어려운 가운데 기존 히트아이템의 자리를 신규아이템이 대체해가면서 매출과 수익성 모두 과도기적 단계를 지날 가능성이 있다"고 내다봤다.
Researcher Lee said, "In the U.S., the front industry is difficult due to the closure of retail stores, and as new items replace existing hit items, both sales and profitability are likely to go through a transitional stage."
일반 귀금속 소매점은 한산했지만 반면 한국거래소는 오전부터 사람들 발길이 끊이지 않았다.
