The Korea Times has a special reason to welcome the IMF's
agreement with the government's July 16 indication of its
intention to lower interest rates. In its July 13 editorial,
Labor Unrest Re-examined, this newspaper pointed out that the
IMF's high interest rate prescription was bankrupting many
companies with sound business potential and called for a
renegotiation of the IMF's stiff terms. It was said at that
time that greater *leeway in Korea's implementation of its
economic policies was necessary, in light of the fact that
there are many leading economists critical of the IMF's
economic directives.

코리아 타임스가 이자율을 낮추겠다는 7월 16일 정부의 지적에
대한 IMF의 동의를 반기는 데는 특별한 이유가 있다. 7월 13일
사설 '노동 소요 재고'에서, 코리아 타임스는 IMF의 고금리
처방이 건전한 성장잠재력을 갖춘 많은 기업들을 파산시키고
있다며 IMF의 엄격한 조건에 대한 재협상이 필요하다고
지적했었다. 당시 IMF의 경제지침에 대해 많은 저명한
경제학자들의 비난이 있다는 사실에 비추어 한국정부의 경제정책
수행에 있어 자국의 입지가 좀더 강해져야 한다고 했었다.

이동근 중기중앙회 기업투자부장은 "선정된 VC 펀드를 통해 성장잠재력이 높은 중소벤처기업에 투자가 돼 기업의 매출성장 견인, 건전한 고용창출, 해외진출 지원 등 중소벤처기업들의 경쟁력을 확보하고 건전한 생태계 조성에 기여하게 될 것"이라고 말했다.
Lee Dong-geun, head of corporate investment at the Korea Federation of SMEs, said, "The selected VC fund will invest in small and medium-sized venture companies with high growth potential to secure the competitiveness of small and medium-sized venture companies, such as driving sales growth, creating sound jobs and supporting overseas expansion, and contribute to the creation of a sound ecosystem."

스케일업 금융지원사업은 성장잠재력은 있지만 자체 신용으로 회사채 발행이 어려운 중소기업이 직접 금융시장을 통해 자금을 조달하도록 지원한다.
Scale-up financial support projects support small and medium-sized companies that have growth potential but have difficulty issuing corporate bonds with their own credit so they can raise funds directly through the financial market.

재정지출의 경기대응력을 높이려면 재정승수가 높은 분야와 성장잠재력 확충에 기여할 수 있는 분야에 투입을 늘여야 한다.
In order to increase the economic response of fiscal spending, the input shall be increased in areas with high fiscal growth and areas that can contribute to the expansion of growth potential.

또 "단기적으로 총수요 부족을 해소하지 않으면 총공급도 줄어들 수 있다"며 "이 경우 성장잠재력이 훼손돼 잠재성장경로를 회복하지 못하고 저성장이 고착화·장기화할 우려가 있다"고 밝혔다.
He said, "If the shortage of total demand is not resolved in the short term, the total supply could also be reduced." and he also announced, "In this case, the growth potential could be damaged, which could not restore the potential growth path and lead to a prolonged low growth rate."
