UN Body Plans to Offer Sex Education on Internet

NEW DELHI (AFP) _ The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
is planning to offer sex education on the Internet in its
latest drive against population growth and AIDS, the forum's
chief announced here on July 20.
Executive director Nafis Sadik said UNFPA was negotiating
with U.S. software firm Microsoft for sex education on the
Internet.
뉴델리 (AFP) ― 유엔 인구 기금 (UNFPA)이 인구 증가와 에이즈에
대한 최신 대책으로 인터넷상으로 성교육을 제공할 계획이라고
7월 20일 이 기구 의장이 밝혔다.
나피스 사디크 집행이사는 UNFPA가 미국 소프트웨어 회사인
마이크로소프트와 인터넷 성교육에 관해 협상중이라고 말했다.
Sadik, who is also an U.N. Under Secretary-General, said:
"UNFPA is also considering the introduction of helplines,
where people could call up and get information without
revealing their identity."
The UNFPA chief, addressing a South Asia conference on
adolescents in New Delhi, also called on India to promote sex
education among teenagers as an effective means of stemming
population growth and diseases such as AIDS.
유엔사무차장으로 일하고 있는 사디크씨는 "UNFPA가 도움의 전화
도입을 고려중이다. 이를 통해 사람들이 전화를 걸어 자기 신분을
노출시키지 않고 정보를 얻을 수 있을 것이다"고 말했다.
UNFPA의장은 뉴델리에서 열린 남아시아 청소년문제 회의
연설에서, 인도에 인구증가와 에이즈같은 질병을 억제할 효과적인
수단으로서 십대 청소년 성교육을 강화할 것을 촉구했다.
"Despite increasing incidence of pre-marital pregnancy and
sexually transmitted diseases among teenagers, sex education
does not form a part of adolescent education.
"It is wrong to argue that sex education would promote
promiscuity among young people," she told the delegates on
the opening day of the three-day conference.

"십대의 혼전 임신과 성병 증가에도 불구하고 성교육이 청소년
교육에 포함돼 있지 않다.
"성교육이 젊은 사람들을 문란하게 만든다는 주장은 잘못된
것이다" 그는 3일간의 이번 회의 첫날 참석대표들에게 이같이 말했다.
Sadik said the world body also hoped that sex education would
lead to the reduction of maternal and infant mortality cases
all over the world by 2000.
An UNFPA report on India, where population has topped 960
million and growing, said adolescents here were largely
unaware of sex-related issues.

사디크씨는 UNFPA는 성교육으로 2천년까지 전세계 산모와
유아사망이 줄어들 것으로 기대하고 있다고 말했다.
인도에 관한 UNFPA 보고서는 인도의 인구가 9억 6천만명을 넘어서
계속 증가 중이며 인도 청소년들이 성관련 문제들에 대해 너무
모르고 있다고 밝히고 있다.
디지털 성범죄 관련 성교육 내용이 추가된 초등학교 보건 교과서가 처음 도입된다.
Health textbooks for elementary school students will be introduced for the first time, which includes sex education related to digital sex crimes.
유엔인구기금은 문제 해결을 위해선 성교육이 강화되어야 한다고 강조했다.
