S1 : What's that big bandage on your shin for?
S2 : While running down the bleachers at the school playing field, I fell down and scraped my shin badly.
But I didn't take it seriously at that time, so I just cleaned it with rubbing alcohol, and left it that way.
That was a mistake. My scrape turned into a big sore, and now puss is oozing out of it.
It's badly infected. Now the school nurse gave me this big bandage and put me on antibiotics.

[John's Diary]
After parking the car, I ran for the nearby subway station. I
didn't have a fare card with me, so I put 400 Won into the
slot of the automatic ticket vending machine and pushed the
button. But, nothing happened. I thought the damn machine was
out of order and had eaten my money, so I gave it a real hard
kick. A station attendant came up and scolded me saying the
fare had been raised to 450 Won long ago. How embarrassing. I
bought a ticket and slid through the turnstile. I found a
train already leaving. Damn, I missed the train by a second.
I didn't have a fare card with me 처럼 with me를 쓴 것은
2. Slot: Slot
3. The damn machine was out of order: Order
4. Gave it a real hard kick: 찬다고 하면 그냥 kick을 쓰지요.
take, have에 붙여 씁니다.
Push를 이런 형태로 바꾼다면 give it a push가 되겠지요. Look할
것도 take a good look하지요.
5. Station attendant came up:
Something came up. I won't be able to meet at 7.
6. Long ago: Long time ago
7. Slid: slide
8. Turnstile:
9. Missed the train by a second: 무슨무슨 차이로 할 때 by를
간발의 차이로는 by a hair('s breadth) 또는 by a
whisker를 쓰지요.
I missed the train by a hair.
I got on the plain by a hair.

'Let's c
all it a day'라는 표현이 있다.
Farmer:Thank you for your help.
Son:What time do you have, father?
Farmer:I forgot to bring my watch, but it seems like it's about 5 o'
clock.
Son:It seems to me it's well past 7 o'clock. Let's call it a day.
Farmer:What are you talking about? There's still a lot of work to do
today.
Son:It has become almost dark.
Farmer:It's because of the dark clouds.
Son:Yes, dark clouds! Oh, it looks like it will rain cats and dogs p
retty soon.
Farmer:OK, OK. Let's stop today's work.
<어구풀이>much work to do=해야 할 많은 일.
rain cats and dogs=억수같이 비가 오다.

'강아지집에 들어가 있다'라는 식의 'be in the doghouse'라
A:Did you boss bring his dog a gain today?
B:I don't know. Why?
A:I can hear a dog growling and whining.
B:Really?
A:The dog is very cute. I would like to pet the dog. I'll go and open
the door very secretly so that the dog can come out.
B:Be careful. The boss might be in and mood.
A:Whoops! There no dog. Instead, the boss walking around wiht his tail
between his legs, talking with his wife over the phone.
B:He must be in the doghouse.
A:맙소사!
walk around with his tail between his legs:겁을 먹고 쩔쩔매고 있다

The funniest thing happened to me.

Sarah : How tall is he, Daddy?
Gary : I don't really know, baby. I mean I haven't seen him in
twenty-five years.
Gary : He was always so punctual.
Sarah : What is `punctual'?
Pauly : You didn't see him. You didn't see him.
Joey : I think I see him. I think I see him. I think I see him.
Kevin : Ah, Okay. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Hey!
어이!
Gary : Derek?
Kevin : That's right. It's me!
Gary : Ah, it's you. How are you doing?
Kevin : How are you doing?

There's trouble with the car.
