The industrially advanced nations have sought to establish a link
between commodities trade and labor conditions in producer countries,
proposing sanctions against nations which fail to guarantee the same
level of labor conditions as theirs. As the Organization for Economic
Cooperation and Development (OECD) has determined Korea to be a
country with significant restrictions on labor rights, any
multilateral agreement on labor affairs will put this country at a
further disadvantage.
선진 산업국들은 상품 교역을 생산국의 근로조건과 연계시켜, 그들 선진
국의 근로조건과 같은 수준이 보장되지 않는 나라들에게는 제재를 가할 것
을 시도하고 있다. OECD는 한국을 노동권이 현저하게 제약받고 있는 나라
로 판정하고 있으므로, 근로조건에 관한 다자간 합의는 한국에게 더 큰 불
이익을 안겨 주게 될 것이다.
