The nation is now losing ground on three main economic fronts _
growth, prices and the balance of payments. Consumer prices have
already climbed 4.2 percent, almost broaching the 4.5 percent ceiling
the government hoped to keep them under for the whole of the year.
The trade deficit is expected to hit an all-time high of $20 billion at the
end of the year, nearly three times the earlier-projected $7 billion.
Foreign debts are also expected to hit $100 billion by the year's end.

In what is believed to be the highest price ever paid for an Internet
address, a company here is paying $7.5 million for the rights to the
domain name business.com.
로스엔젤리스의 한 기업이 비즈니스닷컴(business.com) 이라는 인터넷
도메인이름을 사상최고 가격인 7백50만 달러에 사들였다.
The price is more than twice the previous known record paid for an
Internet domain name -- the $3.3 million that Compaq Computer Corp. paid
last year to buy altavista.com, the name of its search engine.
이 금액은 지난해 컴팩컴퓨터(Compaq Computer Corp.)가 자사 검색엔진으로
사용하기위해 알타비스타닷컴(altavista.com)을 구입할 때 지불한 3백30만
달러의 두배를 넘는 규모다.
Compaq purchased the address from a man in San Jose, who had registered
the name to use for his software company.
컴팩은 당시 자신의 소프트웨어회사를 위해 사용하려고 등록한 산호세의 한 사
람에게 사상 최고액을 주고 이 도메인주소를 사들였었다.
