Sandra Day O'Connor, the first woman member of the United States Supreme
Court, believed that the courts should interpret the laws rather than
attempt to legislate.
미국 대법원의 첫 번째 여자 법관인 Sandra Day O'Connor 는, 사법부는 입법을
하려고 시도하기보다는 오히려 법을 해석해야한다는 것을 믿었다.
``Kim has been justifiably sentenced for his crimes, and he has
served a lengthy part of his term. What we are raising objection
to is whether the Japanese legal authorities have been just in
carrying out the sentence,'' Lee said.
"김희로씨는 지은죄에 응분한 형을 언도받았고, 상당 기간을 복역했
다.우리가 여기서 이의를 제기코자 하는 점은 일본 사법부의 형 집행
이 공정성을 갖고 있느냐 하는 것이다"라고 이변호사는 주장했다.

유 이사장은 이날 제주웰컴센터에서 '한반도와 동북아평화'란 주로 열린 특강에서 "또 이러면 또 사법부에 대해서 또 뭐 한다고 할지 모르겠지만 항소심 재판이 납득이 안 된다"고 지적했다.
In a special lecture titled "Peace on the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia" held at the Jeju Welcome Center, Yoo pointed out, "I don't know what else I'm going to do about the judiciary if this happens again, but the appeals trial is not convincing."
다만 대법원장이 사법부에서 갖는 절대적인 권력이나 영향력을 감안하면 양 전 대법원장에게까지 '권한이 없어 직권남용이 아니다'라는 논리를 적용하기는 어렵다는 반론도 적지 않다.
However, considering the absolute power and influence that the Chief Justice has in the judiciary, there are many counterarguments that it is difficult to apply the logic that "because of lack of authority, it is not abusive of ex officio" to the former Chief Justice Yang.
