구두나 서면으로 ‘알리다’의 뜻에서 tell은 일반적인 말이며, inform(알리다, 통지하다)은 약간 격식을 차리는 딱딱한 말로, 한 사실이나 사정에 관한 지식을 어느 사람한테 직접 전하는 것을 강조한다.

unique와 singular는 동의어로 쓰일 수 있다. singular는 같은 종류의 것과는 다른 것을 뚜렷이 나타내서, 개성을 강조한다.
