Korea's new airport at Youngjong-do is often cited as an example of the
nation's worst forms of waste and inefficiency. The cost of construction as well
as the construction period has already increased twofold over previous
estimates.

정부가 부당하게 경제를 정치화 하게되면 기업이 정권의 노예가 되는 바

바나나공화국이란 바나나와 같은 특정 농산물에 의존하는 국가를 의미했
다. 남미, 아프리카의 나라들은 바나나, 커피, 코코아 같은 특정 농산물
로 벌어들이는 수익이 국가 경제의 중요한 부분이 된다. 그런데 이 나라
들은 관료주의적인 비효율성, 가난, 뇌물에 쉽게 넘어가는 관료들.. 이런
것으로 특징지어진다. 따라서 이말이 부정적 의미를 나타내는데 부패하
고, 가난하고, 비효율적인 관료주의 국가를 말한다.

분명히, 낡은 배달 체제가 된 것을 없애는 것은 매년 우체국에서 수백만 달러가 낭비되는 것을 막을 수 있다.
또한 우리는 나무나 물과 같은 귀중한 천연자원을 보호할 수 있고, 종이의 제조로 야기되는 오염을 없앨 수도 있다.

「최종적으로 다져두다」는 finalize, make it final로 한국
사회에서는 consensus(=a general agreement, collective or
group opinion) 로 통용되고 있습니다. We didn't reach a
consensus on this matter. 처럼 단수로 표현합니다. 「최선을
다하다」는 do one's best라는 표현이 try one's best 보다 많이
쓰이고 있습니다.

SEEKING A COMPROMISE
Mr. West: When do you think we can finalize this agreement?
Mr. Lee: We don't want a hasty compromise. Could you wait
until next week? We need a consensus among everyone who is
involved in this matter.
Mr. West: I'm afraid we don't have much time left before I
leave for home.
Mr. Lee: I can assure you that we are doing our best to reach
an early consensus. You know, it takes time to do something
in Korea. But once a consensus is reached, then the next step
proceeds smoothly.
Mr. West: I understand, but could you make it by Monday next
week?
Mr. Lee: O.K. We'll do our best.
