It was exactly 25 years ago on Aug. 12, 1971 that the South Korean
Red Cross first proposed inter-Korean Red Cross talks and this date is
commemorated as it successfully opened formal inter-Korean dialogue
for the first time in the 26 years since national division in 1945.
대한 적십자사가 남북 적십자 회담을 처음 제안했던 것은 정확하게 25년
전인 1971년 8월 12일로써, 이날은 1945년 민족이 분단된 이래 26년만에 처
음으로 공식적인 남북 대화가 성공적으로 열렸던 날로 기념되고 있다.

Fifty-one years have elapsed since Korea was freed from the
Japanese yoke. But the nation remains under the bondage of division
with feuding, enmity, hatred, confrontation and bitter antagonism
still existing between South and North Korea. The two Koreas should
exert renewed efforts to open an era of coexistence by promoting
peace on the peninsula and bilateral cooperation.
한국이 일본의 속박으로부터 해방된지 51년이 경과하였다. 그러나 이 나라
는 남북한 사이에 불화, 반목, 증오, 대립과 적대 감정에서 벗어나지 못한
채 아직도 분단의 질곡에서 벗어나지 못하고 있다. 남북한은 한반도에서 평
화를 증진함으로써 공존과 상호 협력의 시대를 열어 갈 수 있도록 가일층
노력해야 할 것이다.

superpower.
일본은 한국을 식민지로 삼고 한국민들에게 만행을 저질렀었다. 35년간의
일본의 점령으로부터 해방되자, 한국인들은 냉전의 와중에서 동족상잔의 전
쟁을 겪었다. 한국민들이 민족 분단의 깊은 고통에서 벗어나려고 몸부림치
고 있는 동안, 일본은 경제적으로 초강대국의 지위에 올랐다.

Germany which triggered World War II was punished by the Allies
with a territorial division into east and west after the war. The two
Germanies were reunited six years ago as the Cold War ended in that
part of the world. Even Vietnam, which was divided later, has been
reunited but Korea remains divided. Only after the nation is reunified,
will we Koreans celebrate complete liberation.
제2차세계대전을 일으켰던 독일은 전후 전승국들에 의해 동서로 국토가
분단되는 징계를 당했었다. 동서독은 그 지역에 냉전이 종식되면서 6년전
통일되었다. 심지어 나중에 분단되었던 월남 역시 통일되었지만, 한국만 분
단된 상태로 남아 있다. 남북이 통일이 되고 난 뒤에야, 우리 한민족들은 완
전한 광복을 경축하게 될 것이다.

The scenes of family members from North and South Korea reuniting after 50 years of separation brought tears to the eyes of every viewer.
분단 50년만에 남북한의 가족들이 상봉하는 장면에 모든 시청자들은 눈물을 흘렸습니다.
In November, 1989, the television news announced that East Germans could now travel to the West.
People could get visas to cross the border between East and West.
Immediately people gathered at the Berlin Wall.
People started hacking at the wall with hammers and chisels.
The next day the police started demolishing the wall with bulldozers.
It was a momentous day for Germany and for the whole of Europe.
It was the end of a divided Germany.
It was also the beginning of the end of hostile relationships between East and West Europe.
1989년 11월 동독사람들이 이제 서독으로 여행할 수 있다고 발표했다.
사람들은 동서독의 국경을 넘을 수 비자를 얻을 수 있었다.
즉시 사람들은 베를린 장벽에 모여들었다.
사람들은 망치와 정으로 벽을 부수기 시작했다.
다음날 경찰은 불도저로 벽을 허물었다.
그 날은 독일 사람들과 전 유럽 인들에게 있어서 중대한 날이었다.

Twenty years ago last week, Moscow and its East German minions suddenly
threw up the infamous 28-mile-long Wall across the city to halt a
hemorrhage of people from the Communist empire, and West Berlin became a
monument to the division of Europe.
20년전 지난 주에 소련과 소련의 동독 앞잡이들이 갑자기 저 악명높은
길이 28마일의 장벽을 이 도시를 가로질러 세웠는데, 이것은 공산제국으로부터
사람들이 흘러나가는 것을 중지하기 위해서였다. 그리하여 서베를린은 유럽 분단에
대한 기념비적인 존재가 되었다.
시청률 meter 조사법
audience meter research. TV 수상기에 자동적으로 시청 상황을 기록하는
기계를 설치해 조사를 하 는 방법. 대표적인 것으로 video research 社의
video meter, 닉슨사의 audio meter 가 있다. 시청한 채널과 시간을
분단위로 기록해 가는 것으로 보통 1주일마다 회수해 집계된다.
이에 따라 분단제생병원 내 코로나19 확진자는 환자 7명, 간호사 2명, 간호조무사 4명, 보호자 1명 등 모두 14명으로 늘었다.
Accordingly, the number of COVID-19 confirmed patients in the Bundang Jesaeng Hospital increased to 14 in all, including 7 patients, 2 nurses, 4 nursing assistants, and 1 guardian.
