버스정류장

It was a very hot day in the middle of summer, and there were no trees along the street.
Mr. Read closed his shop at half past five, and went out into the street and began walking to the bus stop.
He was very fat.
The sun shone straight down the street, and in a few minutes Mr. Read felt very hot.
A little girl came out of another shop.
The girl stayed very near him all the time, and she kicked Mr. Read's shoes several times.
Mr. Read looked at her angrily each time.
After the fourth time, Mr. Read stopped, turned round and said to the little girl,
“What are you doing? Stop following me like that!”
“I'm sorry, but don't stop me, please!” the little girl said.
“It's very hot today, and there isn't any shade anywhere else in the street!”
한여름 아주 더운 날이었으며, 거리에는 나무 한 그루 없었다.
Mr. Read는 5시 30분에 자신의 가게 문을 닫고, 거리로 나가 버스정류장이 있는 곳으로 걸어가기 시작했다.
그는 매우 뚱뚱했다.
태양이 거리에 직접적으로 내리찍고 있었으므로, 몇 분 만에 Mr. Read는 매우 더워졌다.
한 어린 소녀가 또 다른 상점에서 나왔다.
그 소녀는 줄곧 그에게 바짝 붙어 있었기 때문에, Mr. Read의 구두를 몇 차례 걷어갔다.
그럴 때 마다 Mr. Read는 화를 내며 그녀를 쳐다보았다.
네 번째 걷어차인 후, Mr. Read는 걸음을 멈추고 돌아서서, 그 어린 소녀에게 다음과 같이 말했다.
“뭐하는 거야? 그런 식으로 나를 따라 오지 마!”
“죄송합니다만, 제발 허락해주세요!”라고 그 어린 소녀가 말했다.
“오늘 날씨가 매우 더운데, 거리의 다른 어떤 곳에도 그늘이 없거든요!”
