[比較] alien, foreigner, stranger, emigre
alien은 다른 나라의 군주나 정부에 충성을 맹세한 거류민으로, citizen에 대응하는 말이다. 어느 나라에 귀화한 사람을 foreigner라고는 부를 수 있어도 alien이라고는 부를 수 없다. 확대된 의미에서는 한 그룹의 특권에서 제외된 또는 그 그룹에 섞일 수 없는 「따돌려진 사람」을 의미한다.
