One of two things will happen:

My husband and I own a small business. With the wedding of our daughter,
Cindy, just months away, money was tight. One weekend, Cindy prepared
and sent out invoices to our customers. Almost at once, checks started
pouring in. Even delinquent accounts seemed to be paying up.
We were happy but mystified. Then we took a close look at one of the invoices.
At the bottom, our daughter had typed: "Please pay soon so my parents can
pay for my wedding."

David was a young man who worked in an office in a big city. His hobby
was trout fishing, but he did not often get a chance to practice it.
Then one summer he decided to have a holiday in a beautiful place in
the mountains where there were a lot of streams.
"I ought to be able to have some good fishing there," he said to himself.
The first morning after he arrived, he walked to the nearest stream
with his fishing-rod.
He saw an old man with his rod standing beside the water.
David said to him, "Good morning, sir. Is this a private stream?"
The old man answered that it was not.
David said, "Why don't you fish here with me, sir?"
The old man answered with a smile, "I should like to, but I'm sorry I can't."
David then said, "Well, it won't be a crime if I catch some fish here,
will it?"
"Oh, no," answered the old man, "it won't be a crime, but it will
certainly be a miracle."
대이빗는 대도시의 사무실에 근무하는 청년이었다. 그의 취미는 송어
낚시였는데 별로 할 기회가 없었다.
어느 여름 그는 개울이 많은 아름다운 산 속에서 휴가를 보내기로 결심했다.

노인은 그렇지 않다고 대답했다.
대이빗이 말했다. "왜 낚시질을 하지 않습니까?"
노인은 웃으며 대답했다. "그러고 싶지만 유감스럽게도 그럴 수가 없다네."
그러자 대이빗이 말했다. "여기서 물고기 몇 마리 잡는다고 죄가 되지는
않겠지요?"
"아, 물론 아니지," 노인이 대답했다. "죄는 되지 않지만 기적일 거야."

At one home on my husband's letter-carrying route, the dog on the other
side of the mail slot always barked excitedly and eagerly grabbed the mail.
One day the dog's owner explained that the spaniel had started bringing
the mail upstairs soon after he got him, so he was promptly rewarded with
a treat.
After several months there was a slight change in procedure: the dog
still delivered the mail upstairs―but only one piece at a time.
