Some men are highly intelligent.는 particular proposition(특칭 명제)이고 All men make mistakes.는 universal proposition(총칭 명제)이다.
specific은 철학·과학용어로는 generic(속에 특유한)의 반대어로, genus(속)와 구별되는「species(종)에 독특한」을 의미한다.

Church-Turing thesis

Capitalists and capitalist institutions, to the extent that they can successfully reinvest, can successfully pursue this process of giving.
Capitalism is the system that makes it possible to give productively, to give in a way that really does help other people, by creating jobs and markets and opportunities for others.
This is the essence of capitalist success.
It derives from the crucial institutions of family and faith, and it is founded on the proposition that you give and you'll be given unto.

<작문 예>
A. I liked both English and mathematics. Though they say
(that) those who are good at foreign languages are poor at
mathematics, and that the reverse is also true, it is not
necessarily so in my experience. I would rather say (that)
these two faculties are closely connected with each other.
B. English and mathematics were my favorite subjects. It is
said that a man who has a talent for languages is not
talented at mathematics and that the reverse is also true [or
vice versa]. So far as I know from my experience, however,
this is not the case. It would be truer to say that the
ability in one and the ability in the other have a close
relationship to each other.
