대부분의 땅이 점유되었을 때 건축가들은 남아있는 유일한 방향, 다시 말해 위쪽으로 건물을 짓기 시작했다.
이러한 이유 때문에 초고층 빌딩이 미국에서 처음으로 지어졌다.
