Grass Widow가 '이혼이나 별거중인 아내'라는 뜻인데, 유래는
어떻게 되는가 ?

Widow라고 했답니다. 이런 여인네들이 아이를 갖게 된 것이
보통 풀밭이라서, 그렇다는 조금 야한 연상에서 비롯되는
말입니다. 우리나라로 치자면 '메밀꽃 필무렵', '물레방아'
에 나오는 그런 배경을 연상하시면 됩니다. 이 말이 미국으
로 건너가서 의미가 발전해서 이혼이나, 별거하고 혼자사는
아내를 Grass Widow라고 한다고 합니다.

그 프로그램은 농촌 생활에 관한 것이었고, 우리도 농촌 출신이어서 우리는 열심히 그 프로그램을 시청하였습니다.
그러나 그것은 완전히 실패작이었습니다.
그 프로그램은 시청자들로 하여금 실제 농촌 생활을 알리려하지 않고 농부와 농촌 생활을 우습게 묘사하였습니다.
농촌 생활을 알고 있는 다른 시청자들도 물론 나와 같은 의견일 것입니다.
