clutch는 흔히 무서움, 조바심에서 단단히 잡는 것, 잡고 싶은 것이나, 쥐고 싶은 것을 단단히 또는 발작적으로 grasp하는 것을 의미한다. 특히 자동사로 쓰이는 경우에는 grasp보다 잡는 데 성공하는 뜻이 덜 들어있고, 성공하는 뜻이 들어 있는 경우에만 꽉 쥐고 있는 뜻을 암시한다.

This summer, as in previous years, temporary police stations have
been set up at major summer resorts across the country to prevent
vacationers' misbehavior. At the same time, the Ministry of
Environment stations inspectors at 900 beach resorts, pleasure grounds
and other public places to check offenders through Aug. 18.
