After contracting the U.S. Department of Veterans
Affairs(VA), I learned that this is a *wild rumor spread via
the Internet. According to Kennethe W. Kizer, M.D., VA
*undersecretary for health, "There is good news for veterans
who are *distressed over incorrect information spread via the
Internet that suggests they will automatically lose their VA
medical benefits if they fail to apply for the VA's new
health-care enrollment program by Oct. 1, 1998. It isn't so!

제가 재향군인회에 연락해보니 이것이 인터넷에 퍼져있는
터무니없는 소문임을 알게 되었습니다. 재향군인회 보건담당
부회장인, Kennethe W. Kizer박사께서 다음과 같이 말했습니다.
"재향군인회의 새로운 건강치료 등록 프로그램에 1998년 10월
1일까지 신청하지 않으면 재향군인회로부터 받는 의료혜택은
자동적으로 소멸된다는 인터넷의 잘못된 정보로 고민스러웠던
재향 군인들에게 좋은 소식이 있습니다. 그것은 사실이
아닙니다!"
그는 "무조건 쫓아내고 임대료를 올리는 것만이 수익을 내는 길이 아니다"라며 "우리가 들어갈 때는 임대료 못 낸다고 힘들어하던 곳도 링거를 꽂고 영업 활성화 전략을 고민하다 보면 영업이 잘되는 경우가 많다"고 전했다.
"Unconditionally expelling people and raising rents are not the only ways to make profits" he said adding, "There are many cases where those who were having difficulties to even start their businesses while paying rents, in fact, do their businesses well after they thought over the strategies to activate the businesses".
김 대표는 "상태가 악화돼 상급병원으로 긴급 이송한 환자도 있었고, 우울증이나 불안감에 발작하는 환자도 있었다"며 "당황스러운 상황에서도 환자를 어떻게 돌봐야 하는지만 고민하다 보니 3주라는 시간이 훌쩍 지났다"고 소회를 밝혔다.
Some patients were rushed to higher-level hospitals due to worsening conditions, and some patients were seized with depression or anxiety, CEO Kim said. "Three weeks have passed fast since I was thinking about how to take care of the patients even in an embarrassing situation."
