Because of Henry's unshakable mental attitude, he was able to appear on a TV show and said as follows:
Before I was handicapped, there were 10,000 things that I could do.
Now I can only do 9,000 things.
I can make a choice.
I can choose to cry about the 1,000 or focus on the 9,000.
I had some troubles in my life.
I didn't make any excuses due to my handicap.
I was able to learn from the difficult situations I faced.
Why don't you step back, take a wide view and have a chance to say, ‘Maybe that isn't such a big deal at all.'?

Imagine you were asked to work overtime and you didn't want to do it.
Then you were told you would get paid twice as much money.
You would probably become more cooperative.
This idea also works with children.
A few years ago, a child of mine wouldn't brush her teeth before going to bed.
Nothing we did could make her change her mind.
Then, my parenting class teacher recommended that I should give her rewards.
So I used this simple phrase, which worked wonders:
“If you go and brush your teeth now, we will have time to read three stories instead of just one.”
Whenever she heard it, she would jump up and brush her teeth right away.

Far into the forest stood a little pine tree.
Since it had plenty of fresh air and sunshine, it grew well.
When Christmas came, many young trees were cut.
“Where are they going?” the pine tree asked.
“They are going to the town,” twittered the sparrows.
“There they are dressed in gold and silver and placed in the middle of warm rooms and the children worship them.”
“How I wish that would happen to me!” sighed the tree.
“My sweet, you already have real blessings!” said the sun, but the tree did not understand.
The pine tree was restless and impatient and always wanted to get away.

Jack arrived home from work one sunny afternoon.
He noticed a letter on the hall table.
He picked up the letter and opened it.
The letter began:
“Dear Jack, Congratulations! You have won an all-expenses-paid 5-day trip to Fiji!
Thank you for entering the competition at Franklin’s Supermarket at Downtown Shopping Center.”
He couldn't believe how lucky he was.
He went into the kitchen and found a bottle of champagne.
He sat back in the sofa and sipped on his glass of champagne.
Then he noticed the date of the trip―March 20th.
Jack screamed with horror.
“I can't believe it! I'm going to kill the mail carrier! They're always late!”
Today was March 21st.
Jack
Jack

It was a very hot day in the middle of summer, and there were no trees along the street.
Mr. Read closed his shop at half past five, and went out into the street and began walking to the bus stop.
He was very fat.
The sun shone straight down the street, and in a few minutes Mr. Read felt very hot.
A little girl came out of another shop.
The girl stayed very near him all the time, and she kicked Mr. Read's shoes several times.
Mr. Read looked at her angrily each time.
After the fourth time, Mr. Read stopped, turned round and said to the little girl,
“What are you doing? Stop following me like that!”
“I'm sorry, but don't stop me, please!” the little girl said.
“It's very hot today, and there isn't any shade anywhere else in the street!”

Dear Sally,
I'm so excited to hear that you're finally going to visit me here in Seoul.
I've really missed you since I moved away from Australia and I've been waiting for you to come for so long.
I've made an arrangement to take off a couple of weeks from work, so I'll be able to spend a lot of time with you.
Please let me know what you want to do here and I'll prepare everything for it.
You should check out the highlights of Korea online.
If you want to go somewhere outside of Seoul, just let me know and I'll be happy to rent a car.
I hope that I'll be able to do many things with you.
I can't wait to see you.
Bye for now,
Suzanne
Sally
Suzanne

"That's something you'll have to work on.
Eventually you'll be able to type the numbers just as accurately as you do the letters."

"Now that you mention it, I have been concentrating more on the letters.
I think I'll focus my practice on the numbers for a while.
With constant drill and repetition I should be able to type them perfectly."

"You'll increase your typing speed and proficiency, too.
Just keep practicing.
You can only get better!"

"Congratulations, Jill.
I hear that you came into quite an inheritance."
"Yes, I did. My grandmother left me the bulk of her estate when she passed away.
Now I'll have to start thinking of ways to invest it if I want to see it grow."
"True. And remember: don't put all your eggs in one basket."
"Never fear. I won't risk losing my money by investing all of it in a single place.
I plan to spread out my inheritance in real estate, government bonds, and other low-risk investments."
"Now you're talking! If you're interested, I have the name of a good financial counselor.
I'm certain that she could help you."
"Thanks. As soon as I'm ready, I'll look her up."

She wore her usual don't-worry-everything-will-be-fine look.

No, you can't go out tonight; we're expecting company.

The volunteer fire department was fighting the blaze engulfing my cousin's
barn. As he watched, he dialed his insurance company on his portable phone,
but there was no answer. "How come my agent is never there when I need
him?" he asked in frustration.
One of the firefighters tapped him on the shoulder. "That's because I'm
right here, putting out the fire," responded the agent.

A large part of the influence of money and education on happiness comes
from one's original expectations. If you thought you would earn a lot,
perhaps because of extensive education, and did, you may have a "so what?"
attitude. But if your expectations have been overfulfilled, the happiness
that comes from getting more than you thought you would get can be quite
obvious. Thus the happiest groups are those with little education who
earn a lot; while the highly educated who earn a lot are not so well off psychologically.

*so what 그래서 어떻다는 거야?
that is of no importance, is it; how can that make any difference:
"He's won $5000." "So what? He isn't any happier."

A teen-ager tried to purchase beer one night at the grocery store where
I work. When I asked for an ID, he became abusive and refused to leave.
I threatened to call the police, but he informed me that his friend was
on duty and "Bruce would never arrest me."
"You mean Officer Cabral?" I asked.
"Yeah," growled the teen-ager, "only I know him well enough to call him
Bruce. You have to call him Officer Cabral."
"Not really," I replied. "I usually call him Dad."

David was a young man who worked in an office in a big city. His hobby
was trout fishing, but he did not often get a chance to practice it.
Then one summer he decided to have a holiday in a beautiful place in
the mountains where there were a lot of streams.
"I ought to be able to have some good fishing there," he said to himself.
The first morning after he arrived, he walked to the nearest stream
with his fishing-rod.
He saw an old man with his rod standing beside the water.
David said to him, "Good morning, sir. Is this a private stream?"
The old man answered that it was not.
David said, "Why don't you fish here with me, sir?"
The old man answered with a smile, "I should like to, but I'm sorry I can't."
David then said, "Well, it won't be a crime if I catch some fish here,
will it?"
"Oh, no," answered the old man, "it won't be a crime, but it will
certainly be a miracle."

The boss returned in a good humor from lunch and called the whole staff
in to listen to a couple of jokes he had picked up. Everybody but one girl
laughed uproariously.
"What's the matter?" grumbled the boss.
"Haven't you got a sense of humor?"
"I don't have to laugh," said the girl.
"I'm leaving Friday anyhow."

My aunt doesn't throw anything away. One day I was helping her clean a
room that was stacked to the ceiling with boxes of photos, letters,
newspaper clippings, books and other personal treasures.
While rummaging through a box, I came across an old newspaper article
entitled, "How to Get Rid of Personal Possessions."
Chuckling, I handed it to her. "This is great," she said, "I think
I'll save that," and tossed it into another box.

Nawal was a joy to her mother, but also a terrible heartache. Her mom
knew that she was so ill that she would die soon without expensive
treatment. And Nawal's mom had no money. One evening, Nawal's teacher
came. "Do your homework, Nawal," the teacher said. "You'll be back in
school soon." And Nawal's mom looked at him in wonder. "A friend of mine
wrote an article about Nawal," explained the teacher. "One of his
readers, doctor, has offered to treat her for free." Nawal's smile was
so wide that it spread across all three faces.

During the baseball game I missed an easy ball. This made me so
embarrassed that I just stood there without knowing what to do. To my
dismay, the other team scored three runs. After the game, the coach
shouted at me, "You should never do that again!" I answered,
hesitatingly, "I won't. I'll never miss such an easy ball again."
"Miss?" He yelled. "You'll miss lots. That's not the problem. It's what
you did after. While you were standing there, how many runs did the other
team score?"

I swear
All 4 Love
I swear, by the moon and the stars in the sky
And I swear, like a shadow that's by your side..
I see the questions in your eyes
I know what's weighing on your mind
You can be sure I know my part
Cause I'll stand beside you through the years
You'll only cry those happy tears
And though I've made mistakes
I'll never break your heart
And I swear, by the moon and the stars in the sky
I'll be there
I swear, like a shadow that's by your side
I'll be there
For better or worse till death do us part
I'll love you with every beat of my heart,
I swear..
I'll give you everything I can
I'll build your dreams with these two hands
We'll hang some memories on the walls
And when just the two of us are there,
You won't have to ask if I still care
Cause as the time turns the page
My love won't age at all
And I swear, by the moon and the stars in the sky,
I'll be there
I swear, like a shadow that's by your side,
I'll be there
For better or worse till death do us part
I love you with every beat of my heart
I swear..

Baby Baby
Amy Grant
Baby baby I'm taken with the notion
To love you with the sweetest of devotion
Baby baby my tender love will flow
From the bluest sky to the deepest ocean
Stop for a minute
Baby I'm so glad you're mine you're mine
Baby baby the stars are shining for you
And just like me I'm sure that they adore you
-
Baby, baby, go walking through the forest
The birds above are singing you a chorus
Stop for a minute, Baby they're so glad you're mine
And ever since the day you put my heart in motion
Baby I realize that there's just no getting over you
-
Baby baby in any kind of weather
I'm here for you always and forever
Baby baby no musde man could sever
Stop for a minute, baby I'm so glad you're mine
And ever since the day you put my heart in motion
Baby I realize there's just no getting over you over you
-
Baby baby always and forever
Baby I'm so glad that here for you baby
So glad you're mine
Baby I'm so glad that
When I think about you it makes me smile
