아이쇼핑하다 : go[do] window-shopping

I'm going grocery shopping 장 보고 올께.
* 미국 사람들은 '장보러 간다'는 말을 go shopping이라고 하는데
특히 식품 종류를 사러 supermarket에 가는 것은
go grocery shopping이라고 한다. 그리고 물건을 사지 않고
구경만 한다는 뜻으로 한국에서는 eye shopping이란 말을
쓰는데 이것은 konglish이고 진짜 영어는 window shopping이라
한다. 그리고 물건을 사기 위해 여기저기 돌아 다니는 것을
shop around라 한다.

ighting! 화이팅은 잘못된 콩글리쉬입니다.
Go for it!이라고 해야 되지요
그래서 응원할 때 박찬호 화이팅이라고 하면
Go, go, go 박찬호라고 하죠.
여기서 go는 Go for it에서 나온 것입니다.
그외에 잘 쓰이는 콩글리쉬 표현을 정리해 보면
애프터서비스 → after-sales service, Warranty(무하자보증)
아르바이트 → part-time job
(하루종일 하는 일은 full-time job)
아파트 →apartment
(참 미국인들에게 아파트에서 산다고 하면 셋집 산다고 생각하죠.
우리가 생각하는 자신 소유의 아파트 영어로 하면 condominium 즉 콘도라고 합니다.)
빽미러 → rear-view mirror, rear mirror
바겐세일 → a sale
비치파라솔 → beach umbrella
클래식 뮤직 → classical music
써클 → club.
(circles는 academic circles(학계)처럼 씁니다)
CM → 광고방송은 'commercial'
코너 → 어떤 상품을 파는 곳은 'counter'
즉 화장품 코너가 아니고 cosmetic counter
컨닝 → cheating
아이쇼핑 → (show)window shopping, browsing
오후 7∼11까지의 방송 황금 시간대를 골든타임이라고 하죠
하지만 영어로는 'prime time'이라고 표현하죠.
오후 7∼9시 까지는 'family hour'라고도 합니다.
핸들 → steering wheel
하이틴 → late teens(17-20세), low teens(13-15세), early teens(11-12세)
클랙션 → horn, honk. klaxon은 만든 회사이름.
레몬차→ tea with lemon
매스컴 → media, mass media
남녀간의 미팅 → blind date.
자동차 타이어 빵구→to have a flat tire
모임 등에 나오지 않아 빵구 내는 것은 'no-show'
예를 들면 He was a no-show at the meeting.
샐러리맨 → salaried man. 마찬가지로 ice tea → iced tea
싸인 → autograph.
signature는 공식적인 서명을 의미.
스탠드 → 책상 위의 lamp는 'desk lamp'
써머타임 → daylight saving time
탈렌트 →TV star, TV performer
talent는 재능이라는 의미로 쓰입니다.
예를 들어 talent show는 장기 자랑이죠.
비닐봉지 → plastic bag'
란닝구, 빤츠 → 'undershirt', 'underpants'
남자들이 입는 빤츠는 'briefs'
오토바이 → motor cycle
앙케이트 → survey'
전자렌지 → microwave oven

저 그냥 구경하는 거에요.

= I'm just window shopping.
= I'm just browsing.

My mind was so cluttered that I went to the department store and did some window-shopping to relax.
머리가 너무 복잡해서 백화점 가서 아이쇼핑하면서 기분전환 좀 했어.

Konglish → Broken English
After service 애프터서비스 → after-sales service, Warranty(무하자보증)
