"어디 출신인가요?"라는 표현이다. 영어에서는 be동사와
동사 원형이 함께 쓰일 수 없다.

② Where do you come from?(어디서 오셨나요?)
③ Where do you call your "hometown"?(고향이 어디 신가요?)
④ Where did you grow up?(어디서 자라셨나요?)
- 고향은 어디십니까?
두 가지로 생각할 수 있다. 즉 같은 나라 사람들끼리의 경우와 외국인에
대해 묻는 경우이다. 자국에 대한 질문이라면 '출신지방'이지만 외국인이
라면 '국명'즉 country가 된다. '어디'는 where이지만 문장 전체의 의미
에서 생각하면 what도 사용할 수 있다.

the other is 175cm tall. Which do you think is a man and which is a
woman? In the absence of other information, you probably conclude that
the shorter one is a woman while the taller one is a man. Where does this
conclusion come from? Your experience tells you that men tend to be
taller than women. So, From the particular men and women you have known,
you draw a conclusion about men and women as a whole. In this way, many
