As the population of Curitiba grew fast, it needed a mass-trans system but couldn't afford an expensive subway.
City planners began, instead, with an unusual system of buses in the center lanes of five wide major streets.
At each bus stop, there is a forty-foot-long glass tube.
Passengers pay before they enter the tube.
Then they get on the bus ¡°subway style¡±¡ªthrough wide doors.
This allows people to get on and off the bus quickly and efficiently.
People don't crowd onto the bus; loading and unloading takes only thirty seconds.
This makes commuting more pleasant.

A doctor was in the bathroom of a lunatic asylum watching his mad patients
bathe. Suddenly one of them cried, "It's time for the doctor to bathe." Then another
cried,"Let's drown him!" On his crying, all in the bathroom gathered around the
doctor, with their eyes fixed on him. They insisted on his being drowned.
Seeing his danger, the doctor thought out a trick."All right,my lads," he said.
"But suppose now you give the doctor a good cheer before you drown him."
This reasonable proposition being at once agreed to, a loud cheer resounded
through the building. This unusual noise, needless to say, at once brought the
keepers to the bathroom.

The dulotic species of ants, however, are the supreme social parasites.
Consider, for example, the unusual behavior of ants belonging to the
genus Polyergus. All species of this ant have lost the ability to care
for themselves. The workers do not forage for food, feed their brood or
queen, or even clean their own nest. To compensate for these deficits,
Polyergus has become specialized at obtaining workers from the related
genus Formica to do these chores.

Joseph Schumpeter was an unusual economist. Most economists have tried
to reduce business cycles, but Schumpeter believed that constant change
was the strength of capitalism. In constantly developing new products
and new ideas, entrepreneurs cause the destruction of old products and
ideas. Schumpeter thought that this process, which he called creative
destruction, causes the business cycles that are part of a capital
system. He believed that business cycles are helpful to the economy in
the long run.

A:When the president visited America, he was welcomed with a twenty-
one gun salute.
B:Right. It was an unusual welcome.
A:By the way, how was the talk? Did the presidents of both countries
stick to their guns?
B:Never. The talk began in a friendly fashion, and they promised to
cooperate with each other.
A:Did you hear the president's English address in the Congress?
B:Yes. His English was great. I think he must have decided to appeal
more to American politicians.
A:Yes, he received long standing ovations. But while the president w
as making an English address, Hangul Computer Company went bankrupt.

For market economy cases, to calculate normal value based on sales in the home market, the
Department must determine that the volume of sales is adequate in that market and that a
"particular market situation" does not make their use inappropriate. To calculate normal value
based on sales in a third-country market, the Department must make the same determinations
with respect to sales to the third country, and the sales must be "representative." These
determinations establish whether a market is viable.
-
The Department normally finds sales to be adequate if the quantity of the foreign like product
sold in the market is 5 percent or more of the quantity sold to the United States. In unusual
situations, the Department may find that sales below the 5-percent threshold are adequate, or that
sales above the threshold are not. Also in unusual situations, the Department may apply
the 5-percent test on the basis of value, rather than quantity.
The terms "particular market situation" and "representative" are undefined
in the statute of regulations. A particular market situation might exist, for example,
where there was a single sale in the comparison market that constituted
5 percent or more of the quantity sold to the United States, or where government control of
pricing is such that prices cannot be competitively set, or where there are differing patterns of
demand in the United States and comparison market. (Section 773(a)(1) of the Act and section
351.404(b)(2) of the regulations.)

All APO releases are given priority treatment. The APO office immediately attends to an
APO release. Some releases have a higher priority than others, however, and it is up to
the analyst to speak with a member of the APO office if there is a critical deadline or an
unusual circumstance that requires instant attention. If a document will not be available
for release until the end of the day and it is critical that it be released as soon as it is
available, the analyst should provide all of the necessary information to the APO office in
advance. The APO office will attend to its APO release work in advance, and will notify
parties of the APO pick-up for the end of the day. Similarly, analysts should also notify
the APO office of disclosure meetings a day in advance of the disclosure so that the APO
office can be prepared and serve the analysts in a more efficient manner.
