* business는 단지 '사업'이라는 뜻외에도 여러 가지 의미가 있는데
I want your business(with us)라고 하면 '난 당신과 거래를 하고
싶다'는 뜻이 된다. business에는 또 '볼일'이란 뜻도 있는데
쓸데없이 남의 일에 참견하는 사람을 보고 keep out of this.
This is none of your business.라고 말했다면 '넌 좀 빠져.
네가 참견할 일이 아니야' 정도의 뜻이 된다. 그리고 사무실
문에 '볼일이 없는 사람은 들어오지 마시오'라고 써붙이고 싶으면

또한 business에는 또 '권리'란 뜻도 있는데 반드시
have no business to∼와 같은 형식으로 쓰인다.

제가 아는 유사한 표현은 "keep the good work" 인데..

keep up the good work.라고 하면 계속 수고하라는 것인데
주로 사장이 직원들에게, 선생님이 학생들에게, 웃사람이 아랫사람에게
지금까지 잘해왔다고 칭찬하며 일을 계속하라고 격려하는 것이죠.
일반적으로 헤어질 때 그냥 '수고하십시오'라고 하고 싶다면
헤어질 때 인사말을 쓰는 것이 훨씬 더 자연스럽습니다.

마이 포온 이즈 스태디키)라고 하는데, staticky는 사전에도 없
는 일종의 slang으로 「잡음이 많은」의 뜻으로 미국인들이 흔히
쓰는 말이다.

An old man got on a train with a gorgeous hat his son bought for him.
A young man beside him saw the hat on his lap and said, “Look, how elegant it is! Where did you get it?”
The old man said, “My son bought it at H. S. department store for me.”
The young man stealthily slipped his calling card into the hat and yelled,
“A few weeks ago, I bought the same hat at H. S. department store
and stuck my calling card inside the hat, but the hat was stolen the other day.
Now I see the calling card in your hat, so it must be mine.
Now give it back to me.”
어느 노인이 아들이 사준 멋진 모자를 쓰고 기차에 올라탔다.
그 옆에 앉은 한 젊은이가 노인의 무릎 위에 있는 모자를 보고 말했다.
“와, 멋진 모자네요. 어디서 사셨습니까?”
노인은 “아들이 H. S. 백화점에서 사준 거라네”라고 대답했다.
젊은이는 모자에 자신의 명함을 몰래 살짝 끼어 넣고 큰 소리로 말했다.
“몇 주 전에 H. S. 백화점에서 똑같은 모자를 사서
그 모자 안쪽에 명함을 넣어두었는데 어느 날 그 모자를 잃어 버렸어요.
이 모자 안에 내 명함이 있는 걸 보니 내 모자임에 틀림없군요.
자, 이제 모자를 제게 돌려주시죠.”
The old man thought for a while what he should do.
At last the old man handed the hat to the young man and said,
“In fact, I’m a farmer and a few days ago, in a moonless night, a thief stole my favorite cow and dropped this hat unconsciously.
You are insisting that this hat is yours.
Thank God, you can take your lost hat and I can take my stolen cow back.”
At this the young man hesitantly said, “May I be excused a moment? Nature calls me.”
The young man stood up and went away in a hurry, leaving the hat behind. He never returned!
노인은 어떻게 해야 하나 잠시 생각했다.
마침내 노인은 모자를 젊은이에게 건네주면서 말했다.
“사실 난 농부라네.
며칠 전, 달도 없는 어두운 밤에 도둑이 들어 내가 가장 아끼는 소를 훔쳐가면서 자신도 모르게 이 모자를 떨어뜨렸다네.
당신이 이 모자가 자신의 것이라고 우기니, 당신은 잃어버린 모자를 찾게 된 거고, 난 잃어버렸던 소를 찾게 되었으니 잘되었네.”
이에 젊은이는 머뭇거리며 말했다.
“죄송하지만 화장실에 좀 가야겠어요.”
젊은이는 모자를 그냥 둔 채로 일어서서 서둘러 나가 다시는 돌아오지 않았다.

The farmer asked whether the student could answer a question he was wondering about.
He asked, “What is it that God is doing up in the sky tonight?”
The student pondered for a long time but confessed that he didn't know the answer.
“Never mind,” said the farmer. “Maybe there is no answer.”
The farmer gave the student a cozy room in which to sleep and a big breakfast the next morning.
“Now,” said the student, “I'll be on my way. Thank you.”

그 학생은 오랫동안 생각을 하고 나서, 모르겠다고 말했다.

농부는 그 학생에게 들어가서 잘 아늑한 방을 내주었고, 다음날 아침상을 잘 차려주었다.
그 학생은 말했다. “이제 가야겠습니다. 고마웠습니다.”

Jack arrived home from work one sunny afternoon.
He noticed a letter on the hall table.
He picked up the letter and opened it.
The letter began:
“Dear Jack, Congratulations! You have won an all-expenses-paid 5-day trip to Fiji!
Thank you for entering the competition at Franklin’s Supermarket at Downtown Shopping Center.”
He couldn't believe how lucky he was.
He went into the kitchen and found a bottle of champagne.
He sat back in the sofa and sipped on his glass of champagne.
Then he noticed the date of the trip―March 20th.
Jack screamed with horror.
“I can't believe it! I'm going to kill the mail carrier! They're always late!”
Today was March 21st.
