상태'를 가리키고 take a bath는 '목욕한다'는 말이
아니라 '금전상 큰 손해를 본다'는 뜻의 slang이다.
그리고 take a beating도 '매를 맞는다'는 뜻외에
역시 '금전적으로 큰 손해를 본다' '바가지 썼다'는
뜻으로 자주 쓰인다.
그리고 You got ripped off도 같은 의미이고
You paid through the nose라고 해도 역시
'너 바가지 썼다'란 말이 된다. 이런 말들은 slang이므로
우리 같은 외국인들이 함부로 쓸 것은 아니고
미국인들이 이런 말을 쓸 때 알아듣기만 하면 된다.

An international search team is taking part in the effort to
recover bodies and find anyone who may have survived the crash
of Gulf Air airbus in the Persian Gulf off Bahrain. Pentagon
spokesman lieutenant colonel Dave Latin. --- The US military
in Bahrain and in the Persian Gulf is providing assistance to
the Bahraini government in the search and possibly rescue efforts.
Government officials in Bahrain say some 70 bodies have been
recovered but no survivors have been found. There were 143 people
on the flight from Cairo.

BANGKOK fell back with bank shares slipping 2.1 percent
on profit-taking. The SET index ended 4.96 or 1.5 per cent
lower at 322.50.
방콕시장은 은행주가 차익매물 출회로 2.1% 하락함에 따라 하락했다.

HONG KONG stocks ended lower on Thursday as a sell-off in
Pacific Century Cyberworks dragged the main blue chip index lower.

Hyundai Motor, the country's largest carmaker, rose 3.2 percent
to Won17,550, off a high of Won19,050 as expectations grew
for its spin-off from the troubled Hyundai Group.
