fast는 흔히 일정시간 연속해서 사람이나 동물 또는 물체의 움직임이 빠를 때 쓰이며, quick은 운동의 속도보다 동작이 빨라서 시간이 걸리지 않으며, 또한 반응이 즉각적임을 나타낸다.

swift는 fast란 뜻으로 흔히 문학적 또는 시적 표현이 요구되는 문맥에서 쓰인다. speedy는 informal style에서 doing things or moving quickly란 뜻으로 쓰인다.
