Social sciences study the area of human behavior.
Human behavior patterns vary from place to place and group to group.
However, natural sciences are somewhat different.
When a chemist studies hydrogen, he can assume that one hydrogen atom is very much like another,
wherever it is found, and that the conditions surrounding it can be quite accurately controlled.
The same is true when a physicist measures a metal bar;
he can be quite sure that it will not stretch or shrink in length as long as natural conditions are the same.
Because of the predictable nature of their subject matter, natural sciences are often called “easy sciences.”
