We use the word M.C. for a lot of show programs or some special
programs.
▷ reporter
On TV, the reporter ammounces something, but usually a reporter dosen't
have to be seen. What a reporter does is tells the news, but
he/she is not an anchor. He/She is usually on for short time.
▷ announcer
An announcer is anyone who announces something, anyone who gives
information, so an anchor and an M.C. is announcer and
sometimes a reporter can be an announcer.

My job requires me to bring work home.
I need a work area where I can concentrate.
When I try to work, my wife is always there with a steady stream of questions or small talk.

When Amelia, one of my dearest friends, was ninety-nine, I, not knowing if she would live to be one hundred,

The usual answers we hear to that question are, “I didn't drink,” “I minded my own business,” and the like.
I had no idea what this healthy little ninety-nine-year-old would say.
What she said was profound.

For instance, as a woman, I would be surprised if a man gave up seat for me.
I might even prefer that he didn't offer such a thing
because such displays of courtesy have the potential to seem artificial, burdensome or even sexist.
Instead, we Americans believe in the rationality of "Finders, keepers."
This means that we think in this way:
“No, no, you were sitting there first, it makes the most sense that you continue to sit there.”
예를 들어 여성으로서 내 경우 어떤 남자가 자기 자리를 내게 양보한다면 놀랄 것이다.
아마도 차라리 그 남자가 그런 제안을 하지 않기를 바랄지도 모른다.

on 이란 전치사는 '...위에'를 뜻하지요. 우리가 의자에 앉는다고 말할 때는 대개
의자 위에 앉는다는 의미이지요. 그러니 일반적으로 의자에 앉는다는 의미일 때에는
sit on을 씁니다.

앉고 싶으면 의자에 앉으세요.

'책상에 앉다 / 식탁에 앉다'라는 의미일 때는 전치사 at을 씁니다. at은 ...위도
아니고 ...안도 아닌 단지 어떤 협소한 장소를 막연히 의미하는 말입니다. 책상이나
식탁은 그 위에 앉거나 그 안에서 어떤 일을 하지는 않기 때문에 일반적으로 on이나
in을 쓰지 않습니다.
